Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers

Mt. Juliet, TN, on Sep 04, 2021

We had an extremely positive experience with the office and design teams. Unfortunately, we had multiple issues with our superintendent intentionally misleading us during the final phase of construction. Notably: • During the final punch walk of our house with our Superintendent, we noticed the final grading directed water towards the house near the third car garage in the backyard. Our superintendent told us there was a drain tile located in this corner of the backyard which was inadvertently covered during final grade and that this would be uncovered. During the following week, we followed up with the punch foreman, who informed us there was no drain tile and no plan to remediate the grading. I then emailed [name removed] with our concerns (this can be provided) and included the relevant building code. During the closing walk with our superintendent, I was then, in a demeaning and condescending tone, lectured by our superintendent, in front of the trim carpenter, my realtor and my wife on my lack of understanding of building code and hydrology. As a Construction Project Manager with a minor in Hydrology, I was appalled by the lack of professionalism, especially when closing on a >$500,000 house. It should also be noted, the final grading adjacent to the house is not a hydrology issue, but a residential building code issue. • The Superintendent also misled us about routine issues during the home building process. For example, the framer did not frame the upstairs bathroom doors and left the opening as a pass thru. We brought this up during finishes as a courtesy, he then told my wife the door was not on the plans. It was installed, after I pulled up the plans and showed him the door per plans.

The house build quality is good so far. But jones is very bad at responding/treating their customers. Even if we take time in walking into the office and asking any question we get very limited information, which is very frustrating as that will affect us to plan anything ahead of time and keep waiting for them. I am talking about the drainage issue which was caused by [name removed] but we are the ones paying price for that.

We were told there would be communication throughout the process(didn’t happen). Our builder pat did a sub-par job of communicating & following through on various items. We did not find put until 1 wk., before close that a couple of items were ‘discontinued’ which resulted in a race to pull everything together. [name removed] was very communicative and really tried to complete bungled process. Our neighbors lot was dirt & our hm., was in frame status. They & another neighbor moved in before us ([name removed] NOT their builder. [name removed] did ultimately agree with me that his effort was a major fail! I chose The [name removed] Company, after a great deal of research. I was under the impression that the brand stood for quality and we would engage with trained professionals through out the process. Home started in 10.2020 closed 7.23.21 ([name removed] indicated rhat his process is a little different than other builders). We believe he was in over his head.

We liked the weekly updates throughout the building process. The front desk ladies, [name removed] and [name removed] were nice and helpful. [name removed] who worked with us initially was also nice and helpful. There were some options we missed because they were not pointed out to us as options. Some things we asked for, like a storage in the attic, and were told was not available as an option. We were frustrated by the unwillingness to customize places like the master bathroom and things like that. Toilet seat bowls are short(low) and non-elongated, which is the preferred standard, especially for $600,000 house. We offered to purchase them at our own cost for installation and were rejected. The final completion and handover was not without issues either. There were carpet ends that were not completed. Light fixtures hanging and floor transitions sticking out, causing trip hazards that have not been fixed to date even though we were promised they would be fixed within a week. We still have Light fixtures hanging, and the carpet was fixed just about a week ago, about six weeks after closing. The hardwood floors were not cleaned as promised it would by the time we came back from closing.

There are a lot of detail issues with the finishes in my home. For example my arches are not even, most of my baseboards are dinged or aren't flush. In addition the 90 day warranty work was done poorly and looks worse than before the work was done.

[name removed] was amazing. She helped my wife and I with great communications, super options to pick from, very patient and kind, had great suggestions she even came to the design center because my wife couldn't be there, so we had my wife call in on Facetime and was able to be virtually there picking out all the wonderful home options. This home was truly a labor of love. [name removed] allowed us to meet with her several times prior to all the home decisions were made to get this totally right! We can say enough about how much we appreciate all [name removed] did through the many meetings and decisions that were made. This is the second home we have purchased from [name removed] in [name removed] [name removed]. The other person that did a great job was [name removed]. He had great ideas and suggestions about the actual build. He truly knows how to build. He created and designed a wonderful concrete walkway and patio that goes from the front of the house to the back. He was always friendly and welcoming. He even went to [name removed] on his own to purchase tour pull down attic steps that were on back order and he and [name removed] did an amazing job installing the staircase into our second bedroom upstairs. He was always friendly and welcoming and made us feel important.

I was lied to by sales when picking out lots. I was told that all the lots available were the same size, however, there were at least three lots available besides the one we ended up getting that were bigger. We were not provided with any dimensions or the lot survey plans/maps before picking because I or my family even knew these types of things existed. I asked the size of the lots before picking but was only told that they were all the same size. At that point we just randomly picked. We did not feel were were given all the necessary information about the available lots in order to make an informed choice.
