Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.

Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers

Aurora, CO, on Jul 31, 2026

I am writing this response with the sincere hope that Century Communities will take the time to discuss my experience with Loan Officer [name removed]. My intention is not to place blame, but to provide honest feedback in the hope that future homebuyers will have a better experience. Please note that [name removed] my agent was amazing. I am 72 years old, a black female and have purchased five homes during my lifetime, including two homes that were built from the ground up. I am familiar with the home-buying process and understand that unexpected issues can arise. However, I have never experienced a process as stressful and last-minute as this one. In previous transactions with Oakwood Homes, I was provided with accurate information throughout the process. Even after making selections at the design center, my final amount due at closing changed by only about $160. The communication was proactive, the expectations were clear, and I knew well in advance that everything was in place for closing. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Century Communities' loan process. Throughout the transactions, I felt as though I was treated as if I had little knowledge or experience purchasing a home. The process was consistently last-minute, creating unnecessary stress and anxiety for me with a vacation planned for over a year. There were several occasions when I was brought to tears because I never felt confident that everything was on track and that he created unnecessary stress in my buying experience. One example occurred on Friday, July 19, 2026. I was scheduled to close on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. [name removed] informed me that underwriting needed one final document from my CPA before issuing the closing approval. I obtained the document immediately and emailed it to him at 11:24 a.m. After receiving no response, I waited until 3:00 p.m., then 4:00 p.m., and still heard nothing. Concerned that this final document might delay my closing, I contacted [name removed], the sales agent, to ask for assistance. When we were finally able to reach [name removed], he explained that he had spent the afternoon with his daughter. I completely respect and value family time, I do as well. However, when a client is waiting on what has been identified as the final item needed for underwriting approval, I believe it is reasonable to expect a quick acknowledgment by email or text, even if a detailed response must come later. Because the document was not submitted to underwriting until Monday morning, the process experienced an unnecessary delay. My closing was rescheduled until July 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. I had to change deliveries and rescheduled Comcast. On several occasions, when I asked questions or expressed concerns, to [name removed], I was provided a somewhat negative response to reminded me that he could not control the underwriting department. While I understand that underwriting decisions are outside a loan officer's control, however, timely communication, responsiveness, and setting realistic expectations are within a loan officer's control. Those are the areas where I felt my experience fell short. Buying a home should be an exciting milestone. Instead, this process became one of the most stressful experiences I have had. Had I known what to expect, I would have chosen a different lender. Based solely on my experience with the loan department, I would rate the customer service from my loan office as poor. I truly hope my experience was the exception and not the standard. My purpose in sharing this feedback is not to criticize but to encourage improvements in communication, responsiveness, and customer care so that future homebuyers can enjoy the home-buying experience rather than endure unnecessary stress. That I believe could have been handled differently. Thank you for taking the time to read my comments and consider my concerns.

From the very beginning, my husband and I felt like we made a great decision by working with Century. [name removed], our sales agent, was very knowledgeable and walked us through the entire process step by step. W were able to close on our new home very quickly and the process was very smooth. Additionally, [name removed], the superintendent, was very helpful. He walked us through our home prior to closing to ensure that we understood how to operate the mechanics of the home and to look for items that might not be to our satisfaction. Luckily, there was nothing to fix. They presented the house to us in pristine condition. He also walked through one last time with us prior to closing. He was very personable and attentive to our needs and excited for us too. Because of this, I would highly recommend Century to others.

We talked with other builders and considered other communities and Century was the only one who not only gave us transparency and honesty but was also just very human about the whole experience. Everyone else made us feel like only a sale but Century actually made us feel like they wanted to help us find our home. That sense of humanity made all the difference and was greatly appreciated.

[Translated from ES] The attention that the Century staff gave me in guiding me through my process, answering my questions, and accepting my suggestions regarding the colors of the kitchen cabinets and suggestions for support in closing the deal.

[name removed] and [name removed] have provided excellent support for my family throughout our entire home purchasing process and continue to do so after. Whether it was help with finding our mailbox, accessing the electrical panel, or figuring out how we get our trash bins, they have gone above and beyond to make our experience smooth and pleasant. We are exceedingly happy with the customer service and feel like valued customers.

Since it was a cash deal, it went through fairly easily so that was good. The salesman was nice, and the man that talked to me about the warranties was very thorough. In all anybody I’ve dealt with about the house was really good. They did work a deal in for a refrigerator with the purchase, but I found that very disappointing. I feel the house was built for a counter [name removed] refrigerator because of where it was located with the pantry, but there seem to be no way that that wasn’t even be an option. I still don’t like the way the refrigerator sticks out so at some point I’ll need to make an additional purchase. A counter depth refrigerator is what they represent in the show home. Overall, good experience at this point.

The sales person did promise, but did not much. Because, I trusted his words, but I did not read the contract which made mass. 1: installed [name removed] garage door for me which was promised automatically/ remotely 2: instead of loft on second floor, they added room which we did not like at all
