I had 3 specific contact persons during this process who made my overall experience as a 1st time homeowner unforgettable. [name removed] was responsive and helped to guide me through the process when I had concerns. Even when I reached out to her after hours. [name removed], my loan officer was excellent and walking me through step by step and even helped to calm my anxieties when they arouse. Especially when the numbers seemed in top of me. He took the time to explain/educate me each time I needed to submit and/or sign a document. [name removed], is definitely a man who kbows his job to the core. His professional approach is unmatched. During our 1st walk through he was very thorough and took the time to explain in the simplest of terms for the areas where I might not understand immediately. If I could give each of these representatives an 11 or higher I would. They are simply amazing and definitely a part of the reason why I'm very proud to be a Century Community member.

What I disliked the most was the false advertising that was presented to us when we first came to view the home. I went two separate times to go view the home, I believe the first time was around 6/29 and the second time was 7/2. Both times [name removed] was aware of the property that we were interested in (lot 24) and both times she told myself and my family that we would qualify for the FHA 3/2/1 buy down from 4.875% or the Conventional 30 year ARM starting at 3.875%. Also, she mentioned that we would qualify for the hometown hero incentive since myself and my spouse are both registered nurses. These were both very exciting items for us to learn about and they were a major reason as to why we were so interested in the house to begin with. However, after placing our EMD we were informed by [name removed] of inspire home loans that neither of those loan options were being offered to us. [name removed] claimed that this is a conversation he often has with century community clients and he is constantly apologizing because they cannot offer what century communities is advertising. When I spoke to [name removed] about the issue, her response was, “well I’m not a loan person so you have to speak to [name removed] about that”. Furthermore, she attempted to explain this situation by saying, “rates change month-to-month and week-to-week, what was offered last month may not be offered now”. However, this argument was invalid because again, as I stated earlier, I went to view the property two separate times. These times were in two separate months and two separate weeks. Yet both times, [name removed] advertised the same loan options. She then went on to argue, “only certain homes qualify for the purple sales tag loan options and Century has homes all across [name removed]”. Yet again, this is invalid because [name removed] was aware of the property we were interested in during both of our visits and both times we agreed that we were only interested in lot 24. I requested to speak to [name removed]’s superior, a gentleman named [name removed]. For some reason it took [name removed] around 10 days to get back to our party. This was an issue because after the one week mark the escrow company emailed us stating we were at risk of losing our EMD and at risk of being penalized for failing to close by July 31. Both my realtor and myself requested [name removed]’s contact information, which we were denied. This frustrated me because we were trying to get an answer about the loan situation from [name removed] yet he was not getting back to us, leading to the escrow company emailing me about potential penalties. All the while our EMD was still in the hands of century communities. After many days of bugging [name removed] to get a response from [name removed], he finally contacted our realtor, [name removed]. [name removed] never called me, he sent me an email that had to be forwarded to me from [name removed] because [name removed] couldn’t even input my email address correctly. [name removed] claims he had further difficulty in attempting to contact [name removed] when he had additional questions for him after their phone call. After we finally got our answer, the cherry on top was when we had our already agreed upon hometown hero incentive revoked even though it was offered to us on both of our visits with [name removed]. [name removed] claimed that was was due to us already having the max 6% incentive available to purchase the home. We didn’t even try to fight this, as it was not surprising to see this get revoked after all of the false advertising we had already encountered with century communities. After all was said and done, we still purchased the home has the 6% incentive was still a good deal to us. I most likely will never recommend century communities to anyone. This is due to the false advertising, the lack of motivation for your leadership to promptly respond to us, and inability for your company to follow through on what was shown to us and have us get threatened with penalties when it was YOUR company who was wasting everyone’s time. My last point, after we received the keys we found that century had sold us an ant infested home. I am still working to mitigate this issue weeks after we got the keys. This is frustrating because I placed a ticket about the issue and the response was, “the warranty doesn’t cover insects” even though the ants were clearly there before we were and now I am the one being stuck with a potential exterminator bill.

I had agreed upon a price that was submitted to me in a contract. Later, that contract price was increased and I was informed it was an error, after signing a contract.

The first salesman we had gave us an incorrect finish date of our home, which caused us to be without a home for a month. That being said, they made it right by covering all of our closing costs, which more than made up for it.

A few things. It isn’t until after you drop $15K that you realize the quality of work that is a Century home. Everything is sloppy with little attention to detail. The quarter round is a different size around joining baseboards, the island in the kitchen is literally bowing on both sides, every single toilet is installed at a slight angle, the paint scratches easily, there are literally dips in the flooring below the carpet, the paint used on the trim is sticky and will pick up any paint from another object that rests on it, and much more. But the worst part about the buying process was working with [name removed]. He single-handedly took the wind out of our sails about wanting this home when we went through the orientation. [name removed] to top it all off, he had our driveway concrete broken up and replaced (part of the deal we agreed to) without letting us know. We had an agreement we would tell him when we were ready to have our driveway replaced, and yet out of the blue we woke to our driveway getting removed. No heads up or anything. If I hadn’t been home, our cars would have been stranded for 3 days while the new concrete dried. Honestly, I would never buy another Century home again or refer anyone to one.

Compared to buying previously owned homes in past this purchase was much more informative. Good walkthrough and explanation of the home and features.

Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.
