Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.

Good communication. Disliked the amount of money spent to make modifications that would have been cheap and simple if allowed during the building process.

In my 25+ years as a consumer (across all product types), I've never had such a positive buying experience as my purchase of a home in Alpine Estates. [name removed] (the site sales manager who I worked closest with) provided elite attention, care and consideration from the initial greeting handshake all the way through the close of sale (and even post-close). This is the most significant purchase I may ever make, and the level of support and care that my family has consistently received from the Sales team ([name removed] and Anzhelika), the construction supervisors ([name removed] and [name removed]), and the warranty/walkthrough exceptional attention (with [name removed]) effectively eliminated 99% of the anxiety/stress from the process and resulted in the most confident buying decision I've ever made. The team Century Communities has managing the Alpine Estates location is nothing short of incredible.

My sales agent, [name removed], did not communicate in a timely manner or follow up when needed. She appears to have followed up behind the scenes but most of the time I was in the dark. When scheduling my meeting about "how to use my home" and somewhat of a "pre-move-in walk-through). There was a huge amount of pressure to do it and force me to take hours off of work. After much communication, it was resolved. At the meeting, the air-ducts were in working order and I liked their placement. After the meeting a vent was installed above the master bedroom door and all of my doors were shortened without my consent or even knowledge. When I arrived to pick up the keys, after sale, this had been changed. The next day someone was in my home testing the system. They did not have my permission to enter my home. I still do not have keys to my mailbox and cannot recieve mail at my house. I would say the process has been rocky, with a huge exception of [name removed] who was incredible as loan officer. He went above and beyond, exceeded expectations, was 100% available, and communicated thoroughly.

We didn't like the fact that when we changed homes we were denied a fence. I feel buyers were not treated equally. We don't feel the sales person explained fully the several details about the home. We did not find out until orientation for example the tile grout was not sealed, the bathroom paint was flat paint and should have been semi gloss for bathrooms. There were areas in the bathroom that should have been caulked around the tub and shower that was left for the homeowners. We were under the impression the home would be move in ready.

Too much communication with the century agent. I would have preferred to get all info from my realtor. Too many people were giving me guidance

Every thing was great up to closing. Move in experience was not as exected. There were outstanding items that had been clalled out in orientation walk. One item still is. The house was not clean. The basic move in cleaning should have been done. Not nice to have dust on the floors and and counters etc.

The sales team was amazing and I liked that they don't pressure you and gives you time to think about it. Only challenge we have is finding our some things that needed to be fixed before closing and we hope that warranty will cover it . Otherwise I would still recommend to a friend

It would have been nice to have a window covering contractor in before closing to measure windows so I am not living in a fish bowl for 5 plus weeks but I understand.

The home buying process was incredibly smooth. [name removed] from the sales team was always responsive, while [name removed] and [name removed] from the construction department provided me with valuable insights on home maintenance. [name removed] was extremely accommodating and quick to address any of my requests. [name removed] from Inspire Home Loans was exceptional – one of the best salespeople I’ve ever worked with. He was incredibly helpful, ensuring I got the best deal and consistently had my best interests at heart in every conversation. His joyful demeanor made each interaction a pleasure. Overall I was made to feel very welcomed. The only disliking thing that happened was the home price for the similar plan in the community dropped by 50K in about a month after I booked the home and that really made me feel like I am overpaying for the house.

I was very dissapointed in the entire purchase process from the very beginning to the end. We were not given any information on the houses that we looked at by the sales agent, had a difficult time including our real stat agent, and had to constantly reach out for information. Our sales agent, [name removed], was particularly difficult to work with. I also had one of the worst conversations I've ever had with someone regarding the purchase of the home with VP [name removed]. He was extremely rude, belittiling, and was of little help to solve any issues that arose. We were not given any details of the house and plot, the inspection was done on our end but the pre walk through was never done after the inspection day. Truly, century made every possible obstacle/hurdle in buying this home but our persistence paid off in wanting our home. Century had NOTHING to do with it.

From contract after initial earnest money down, we had a terrible experience trying to community with the team or staff. Emails were not responded to, no timely updates and left in the dark throughout 80% of the process. During the inspection which the builders gave a time allowed, the house was still unfinished where from a buyers perspective, if we are paying a inspector to inspect the home where the builders are setting a date for them to come, we would expect the home to be nearly complete. The inspector even made a remark stating “this is the most incomplete inspection I have ever done”. Only after coming to the pre closing orientation we were introduced to the new team with [name removed] and [name removed]. They had informed us about the situation leading up to the orientation and were able to complete most of the job in a timely manner. Moving forward, [name removed] and Linae have been the most helpful members of the team and I want to shout them out for their outstanding job.

After our closing date 6/26/2024, unrepaired damages are still waiting to be fixed. After two months, we still have a broken new house from outside to inside. If you can leave me an email, I can send you images for you to take a look. This new-house purchasing experience causes me too much stress, so I had to visit a doctor one month ago and right now I am on anti-stress medication. Purchasing a new house should be a very happy thing in one's life. However, my experience is the opposite from it. We understood as the seller you wanted to close the deal as soon as possible, so you could get the money and move on. We paid everything on time. We did not make you wait to receive the money. On 6/26/2024, we were prepared to close, but when [name removed] saw the list of unfinished items, he initially refused to sign. He finally signed only after [name removed] said everything would be fixed. However, as buyers we received a new house with so many damages that are still not repaired despite our patience and repeated requests. This is not something we expected. It tells us the house was not ready to be closed. This situation causes lots of stress for us. Because of this, we ask for refunds of $250/day from the closing date 6/26/2024 until the problems are all finally resolved. We hope to hear back from you soon.
