Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.

The communication was awful. We were never on the same page when communicating our needs. On closing day they were still painting our home (which since then has been painted again, and its still not perfect) and we had a long list of problems that took two months to fix.

It was great working with [name removed] and [name removed]. Although our closing was delayed multiple times.

I feel like the property could have been graded out better to make the yard more even or less bumpy

The only thing that I currently disliked is not having a mailbox still.

[name removed] and [name removed] have been so kind and accommodating. [name removed] went above and beyond to answer questions and help facilitate our purchase the week between Christmas and new years.

The only think I disliked was the fact they were still trying to get things finished the day we closed and as we were moving in they were still working on the house. I liked the fact they wanted it near perfect for us, but I think they need to prepare better in order to have houses finished before closing. It would make the process feel a lot better for the owners knowing it wasn’t all rushed to finished.

People were very communicative through the long experience we had at purchasing a home

Local inspection delays

I like that I was able to docusign most paperwork so I didn’t have to miss work as I didn’t have any PTO left. It was a little stressful not knowing if I’d get the house because I was allowed to be “contingent to sell” versus “contingent to close” and I’m so happy I was able to move in and be in a neighborhood with friends!

We love the floorplan of the home. Was very disappointed that issues were not inspected by the builder and corrected prior to the walk thru. We have no hot water in the showers. The outside of the sliding glass door frame was broken on lower left corner and installed anyway. The toilets are so low they belong in a preschool bathroom. Also there is no electrical outlet on the back garage wall which is the wall where the workbench would go. The biggest disappointment was that the vanity in the Master suite has no drawers What is up with that? They have drawers in the guest bathrooms, but not the master makes no sense at all.

Agent [name removed] was easy to work with. My walk through with the builder was satisfactory. The only thing I was told I would receive is a letter from the Codes Department showing the repair of a truss was inspected and approved by the final codes department. I have not received the letter.

It felt like the closing was being rushed and many issues with home.

Really the only thing was the underwriter and their requests for so much documentation. It became a little overwhelming.

Purchase experience was easy and everything was online. But one thing that can be improved and needs to change is to have customer specify the options for house. For example we would have preferred to have a covered patio, different color kitchen cabinets, black Kohlers in kitchen bathroom just like the model home, pendant lights already installed etc. But we were told that the house is already spec ready and there is no option for change.

I purchased a home that was infested with mice when we closed and was told I was out of luck. I don't think that is what most buyers look forward to. I am not impressed with your customer service.

Home is poorly constructed and local community team has done zero to resolve. The builders agent gives zero care and the construction manager has done such shoddy work we are still with major punch out work 3 weeks post walk through

The worst thing is that I was promised the patio furniture from the model screened porch and it was taken away and sold and I was offered $750 to replace it which is impossible unless you buy the cheapest furniture that you have to put together yourself. The furniture that was there was not that. I had a horrible time getting an answer from "corporate" on disconnecting the wifi. I was told I would have to wait 30 days then all the sudden after a week with no warning it was cut off. The realtor [name removed] was helpful and professional and the superintendent [name removed] was very helpful and pleasant about the few things I needed done in the house before move in.

Positives were that [name removed] and [name removed] were both helpful during the process and the quality of our home is very good. A few negative experiences we were initially told that all homes came with a covered patio and ours is the only one in the neighborhood currently without one, we are almost 1 month post closing and our community still doesn’t have a mailbox.
