Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.

Some things were not well communicated to us towards the end and that was frustrating.

I loved the weekly updates from the sale [name removed] [name removed] and the construction manager [name removed]. They have been amazing through this entire thing and welcoming. Towards the end working with the warranty gentleman was not the greatest since he did not treat my broker or my family very well when they were trying to point things out that weren't correct or hurry us out.

I love how responsive and responsible [name removed] as our key Contact from walk through to all of the questions and very nicely prepared a welcoming package on our Move-in day. She is diligent and flexible to meet all of our calls, needs, questions, expectations. However through the process I noticed late response and recurring errors in contracts and drafts from the loan team (Inspire Home Loan) - there is still an outstanding error even after 2 weeks of close. Construction team window installation is a bit rough - right at the 1st week, handle in one of the non-primary room is loosened. The garage opener provided is odd - it can open up our unit as well as the unit 2 down the street... Safe Haven still pending to response on digital screen installation

It was relatively easy with little-to-no hassle. There were issues just after move in with drainage that caused a portion of the yard to wash out. Not all of the damaged grass was fixed and we used our own funds to put in a proper retaining wall. Aside from that, it’s been mostly great

Nobody showed at closing. Getting them to do honor what they said was like pulling teeth. And there is still incomplete tasks.

We had a awareness and communication issue from day one with our sales person. We were told the wrong price for the bedroom add on for our floor plan. We were also told our lot did not have a grinder pump but it does and we had to have additional meetings to resolve the issue. It wasn't really resolved to my liking but we did not have a lot of great options. It was painfully obvious that these homes are being built by the lowest bidder. Even our warranty guy told us that. From the day construction started there were issues. We were only able to do virtual meetings for the first several months because of our location overseas. The virtual option was really nice and well executed but we could've used a little more flexibility with our move back and our work schedules. The pre drywall inspection was done virtually which is practically useless. I think it's crazy you don't allow a third party pre drywall inspection. Fortunately I was able to arrive on site before the drywall was installed to look at the house. There were several issues I noticed. They all got addressed but I'm confident there will be long term issues with several of the items I noticed. Even after the PCO there were some issues we found that were not corrected and not addressed. At least one issue from the final third party inspection still has not been corrected. I submitted a warranty claim day two after moving in because we found some issues. All but two have been corrected but it's just indicative of the quality of construction. Both shower pans creek and crack when you stand in them. The tub upstairs(one of the pre drywall issues) had to be drilled in and filled with something to stop it from creeking and cracking. On like our third day the construction manager knocked on the door and said something was missing on our roof and could the roofers go fix it. I guess we were lucky someone caught it, but did it leak water into the attic for who knows how long? The side garage door is off and only closes with brute force. Maybe after a few months of living in the house there will be some flexing and warping but this is in less than two weeks. The landscaping is laughable in its design. The exterior paint is so cheap that just rubbing your finger on it leaves marks that don't come off. Maybe I'm a perfectionist but for a half a million dollars I expected better. There are some issues that cannot be fixed at this point. Muliptle walls are at weird angles. One window is not square and is 3/4" different from one end to the other. Like I said is obvious you are using the lowest bidder. I do think the tile contractor did a pretty good job. The appliances are ok. I'm sure there is more but this is a pretty good summary of how I feel about it.

Everything was just OK. Like, it looked nice but the finish work just isn't there. The paint isn't uniform, there are literal cut corners, subpar materials or installation methods, etc. Things like caulking is sloppy or used instead of wood filler. Scrapes in the paint. Most fixes are landlord quality. I feel like my home isn't new when everything is damaged a little bit. But, I know not to expect much so a 7 seems fair.

I really liked how organized and transparent the process was from the start to finish. Everyone I worked with was professional and helpful, and closing process went smoothly. Honestly, there's wasn't much I disliked- maybe I just wish there had been more guidance on warranty and maintenance information, but overall it was great experience

My overall experience purchasing a home with Century Communities was very positive. From start to finish, the process was smooth and well-organized. The team kept me informed at every stage, answered my questions clearly, and helped make what could have been a stressful process much easier. I especially appreciated how professional and responsive everyone was—whether it was updates about construction progress, walkthrough scheduling, or closing coordination. The communication felt transparent and supportive, and I always knew what to expect next. The quality of the home itself also stood out. It’s clear that attention to detail and craftsmanship were top priorities. The layout, finishes, and overall design came together beautifully and reflected what was promised during the buying process. Overall, Century Communities delivered a great experience and a home that my family and I are truly excited to make our own.

What we liked most about our purchase experience was how smooth and transparent the process was from start to finish. [name removed] was fantastic—she was proactive in communication, clearly explained each stage, and went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and informed throughout. She was extremely helpful from signing the contract to move-in — much easier and less stressful.
