Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.

Our agent [name removed] was amazing! She was responsive and always willing to answer questions. When doing the walkthroughs, the construction team was helpful and pro-active.

I was very grateful to have worked with [name removed]. She was kind, relaxed, very personable and was not pushy at all. We would not have done well with anyone that tried to push us, or upsell.

When we first saw the model homes, my husband and I were both very much in love with your guy’s design. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were then greeted with [name removed] and he led us in to his office. We had few chats about what we can do and which lot and design would be best for our family and needs. He took us to see a few lot and was very confident about the lot we are in now. So [name removed] went in through the whole process and was very active up until we paid in our earnest money. Our realtor then met up with us and [name removed] also mentioned that 5% will go towards my realtor, she was very much happy with that. Going forward after we paid the earnest money, we were pretty much in the dark. We were promised to get updates during the month we went to Mexico for one who month, but there was absolutely no updates whatsoever. We had to be the one messaging [name removed] about it and asking him about any updates he had for us. We were also disappointed about the fact that he said the house will be ready in July and we were so excited because it was more convenient for us to move when the kids were still in Summer vacation. The we got back from Mexico and he said the house did not passed the inspection so they couldn’t continue working in our home. He then told us that our house would be ready by August, which was not the case because we closed at the end of September. He didn’t even bother to give us a email or text us about what was going on. My husband and I had to go to his office and asked him ourselves about why was the house still in the same stage as the day we left to Mexico. I found out from the two [name removed]’s that we were supposed to do a walkthrough when the house was in the framing stage just so that we as the home owners would know where everything is. We never got to do a walkthrough and take pictures of the framing stage. At this point we haven’t heard anything from [name removed] and my realtor also tried to reach out to him and sometimes all she gets was a delayed response or nothing at all. My realtor was not happy at all and had compared this with another company that she is working with with her other clients. She had showed me pictures and updates of her other clients house that is also being built. And all we got was silence. At this point we were already tired of waiting for any updates from [name removed], so we just stayed quiet up until he passed us on to [name removed]. He was super awesome because he started to email us about the process and the progress of the house every Monday. In that email he also included the things that were going to be done during that week. He was very consistent with that Monday email and we were always looking forward to seeing it and reading about what process our house was in. After [name removed] took over, we had so many updates and he was just as excited as us for this new home. Going forward to closing time we had our first walkthrough with both [name removed]’s and we finally met them. They were so great and not what we expected. They were so detailed with explaining the whole walkthrough process and very professional, welcoming, and friendly. When both my husband and I were asking them about the fridge, washer and dryer machines, and the window blinds also, they were surprised that we were promised by [name removed] with all of that included with the homes. As if [name removed] had not communicated that with the [name removed]’s. [name removed] did all that he could to made sure we got all of those things that was promised before our final walkthrough. During our first walkthrough, we had to put a lot of blue tapes and we started to get a bit worried about the quality of the home. My husband works in construction and both he and I started noticing that some of the house framing is not at all straight. One of the one that was really bad was the bathroom at the top. The wall was super and I mean SUPER crooked and bumpy. My husband mentioned that to [name removed] he he got someone to fix it, but during our final walkthrough we were not happy with the result because it looks even worse. Like I mentioned my husband works in this field and [name removed] mentioned that the drywall guy said that they couldn’t do it because of something and that they had replaced that whole area. My husband then told me that it doesn’t seem like the did that whole drywall because you can tell from the top of the wall. A few other parts of the house such as where the fridge is, the breakfast nook/ sunroom, the coat closet, etc. are also not straight. The painting job of the whole house and the texture of the house is not great either. Some houses that we saw was very smooth with the painting because they probably use spray, but in this case my husband said that the painting guys use rolls which you can see all of the rolls texture all over the house. At the beginning of this process, my husband and I had mentioned that we wanted to make our basement into a rental space and he had asked [name removed] to move a water spigot that was outside and placed it in a different spot because he wanted to make the walkout door in there, [name removed] mentioned that he was going to talk to his boss or somebody about it and he said he couldn’t do it. Mind you that the house was still in the framing stage. We believed that he didn’t even asked anybody and just stayed quiet about our request. My husband also requested to add a certain outlet in the garage to plug bigger things, he said he couldn’t do it because he would have to pay more than $1,000 for that. We just gave up requesting and asking [name removed] about anything really. The day of our closing we had our final walkthrough and [name removed] was there with us and listened to our concerns inside and outside of the homes. Even after closing the house, he still pops out here and there and asked me how are things going with the house and if everything is working out great. I do believe that without the two [name removed]’s giving us that awesome kind of customer service, my husband and I was done with Century Homes and we wouldn’t even recommend to our friends and family. The two [name removed]’s had given us our hopes up again and still believe that there are still good people working here and takes our concerns as if it was their concern and home as well. I thank you guys for sending two amazing people to finish our home purchasing journey.

[name removed] was extremely helpful, we expressed everything that we needed, and she made sure to address each one. [name removed] the lender great at communicating what we needed to do, and he made sure to anticipate everything underwriting was going to need from us. So, the communication was great, and it made the process bearable. The two [name removed]’s were so helpful during the walk-through they addressed every single one of our concerns. Biggest concern was the concrete steps going into the house, they didn’t just address it. They completely redid it!! Everything that has come up they’ve addressed and taken care of for us.

Love the home and the design/layout. One minor issue was the fact that we had it in the contract to have the house plumed for soft water and it wasn’t on one of our walk through but the superintendent had it quickly resolved before the week was out! Extremely happy with the people we got to work with. The only other thing is that I would have loved to have some extra outlets and a 220 outlet in the garage but understand why we couldn’t deviate from the plans that were already submitted and approved

Everyone was great to work with. We liked that during our blue tape walkthrough, things were taken care of to our liking. We felt like there were a lot of forms to keep track of, but the online portal helped keep track of those. We wish we were more informed with financing options because we felt like we had to ask a lot of questions to get answers. In the end, we received everything we needed and are pleased with everyone and their service.

No complaints at all. The people we worked with were the best part. From [name removed] the sales manager and [name removed] from inspire loans we were well taken care of. They updated us weekly and would call/text whenever we needed. The builder [name removed] was awesome to work with and the whole process was seamless.
