No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. Our experience was a little different because we ended up running into issues due to the government shutdown. We didn't do a lot of communications back and forth. My lender and realtor did a lot of the communication for us because everything was at a stand still. So, I don't have much to say about the communication part. But whenever they did reach out to us. We had a good experience.

The whole process from start to finish was devastatingly stressful. The level of communication was lacking entirely, the lack of empathy or even desire to even appear accommodating or helpful was lacking. It felt like they were sabotaging us and purposely making the experience miserable the entire time. It was mentally draining, my wife still struggles with the emotional and physical trauma from the experience.

I severely disliked the unwillingness to accommodate one requested change. While I understand there are timelines to be met, and changing paint color or moving walls could pose an issue. That was not my request. My simple request was to upgrade the appliances at My Expense. That request was met with a resounding, "No". That nearly caused me to walk away from the home. When a company is so dogmatic in their plan that a simple change of appliances can't be accommodated it makes one weary that they may be less than accommodating to correct other issues. Further it was communicated at the onset that the planned close date was 9/24. And it was agreed at time that it could be met. That timeline was not kept for reasons that were not shared, other than this is how we paced it. Meanwhile I was constantly visiting the home only to see no work or progress being made. On the day of close, it was found that the majority of the items that were flagged during the initial walkthrough had not been addressed. One of those issues was an improperly wired light switch, that's a critical flaw.

The way the underwrite makes it extremely difficult to get the loan approved. After my walk through there was things one my home still not fixed and my grass is flipped over and not fixed as well. There was no follow up from the builder to get these things taken care off promptly.

The only thing I disliked is the fact that a shower glass and door did not come in the master bathroom, and no negotiation was available about this issue.
