Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.

Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers

Vine Grove, KY, on Sep 27, 2026

My issues began about a week before closing. We stopped by to tour the home and discovered that our hallway and powder bathroom were completely flooded. There were also several holes cut into the walls due to a water line being cut. At that point, I was extremely concerned and seriously considered backing out of the purchase. [name removed], the building manager, arrived and was very charismatic and reassuring. He assured us that everything would be taken care of and that we would still be able to close as scheduled one week later. I honestly didn’t see how that was possible given the condition of the home, but he was very good at reassuring us that everything would be completed. A week later, I came for the final walkthrough before closing, and unfortunately, that was not the case. There was a list of approximately six items that still had not been completed and would not be completed before closing. We were also missing three appliances. To say that was frustrating is an understatement. There also seemed to be very little concern about how my family was supposed to move into our new home without essential appliances, including a refrigerator, for an additional three days. Unfortunately, things only became more disappointing after closing and moving in. On day one, we found bottles containing urine littered on our lawn, missing pieces of sidewalk, items from our final walkthrough that were still incomplete, and additional issues that we have continued to discover while actually living in the home. Our doorbell didn’t work. A bathroom door was missing a lock. Several door knobs and latches do not properly align, meaning some doors cannot be completely shut or locked. Here we are a week later, and several of these issues still have not been corrected. Instead, I have been met with attitude and directed to submit warranty requests on a house that is ONE WEEK OLD. Dissatisfied is an understatement. These are issues that should have been identified and addressed during the building manager’s walkthrough before this home was ever presented to us as ready for closing. When someone is purchasing a $271,000 brand-new home, there should be a level of care, attention to detail, and quality control that ensures the home is actually complete and ready for the family purchasing it. This is not my first new-construction home, so I understand that minor issues can arise after moving in. However, this has by far been my worst new-construction experience. I expected better communication, better quality control, and much more care before handing over the keys to a brand-new home. Century Complete, do better.

My wife and I were supposed to close on our new home mid August, approximately the 16th. We packed up our household goods in Colorado, through a moving company. Our home was not completed until 18 September. We had to pay the movers an additional thousand dollars to store our household goods. I must say that the construction project manager [name removed] was very forthcoming and kept us updated on the progress of our home.

Communicating with lots of different people throughout the process was slightly confusing. We also didn’t get sod until a few weeks after move in so the mud was not great. We also didn’t get sprinklers provided which has been a challenge. The home is beautiful and well made. Our builder has been awesome at communicating as well.

When I first met [name removed], all of questions were answered and I didn’t feel like he lead me in the wrong direction. He knows that I have two kids and I am a single parent, and he truly cares about that! He also cares that I have a child with special needs!

Not locking in the rate only due to not having a set competition date. I was committed to the purchase and was given no other reason for not locking the rate.

Grade around the house and we have water ways on both sides of the house on our property, water easements need to be moved to the property line.

The inability to customize any facet of the house has caused a great financial burden after the completion of my home, as my elderly mother-in-law requires accessibility items that could have been included in construction instead of incurring tens of thousands of dollars of additional debt to tear out and replace items that we never wanted and she cannot use safely.
