Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.

Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers

Thomasville, NC, on Sep 07, 2026

My experience with Century Communities began earlier in 2026, before we purchased our home in Woodford. At that time, I was interested in a home in another Century community and began working with [name removed], a representative of Century’s preferred lender. Unfortunately, that first experience was extremely disappointing. [name removed] was very short with me and did not take the time to explain the different loan programs that might have been available. When I asked questions, I did not feel that my concerns were being addressed or that he was interested in understanding my family’s individual financial needs. The experience made me feel more like a number or a quota than a prospective homeowner making one of the largest financial decisions of my  life. I also communicated with [name removed], a Century Complete representative who assisted with contracts and transaction documents. [name removed] repeatedly sent forms for me to sign, but I did not feel that I was receiving enough information about what the documents meant. I refused to sign paperwork that I did not fully understand. I wanted someone to explain the terms, incentives, financing requirements, and my responsibilities—not simply send documents and expect an immediate signature. Because of the lack of communication and guidance, I withdrew my loan application. I was so dissatisfied and disappointed with the overall process that I was prepared to walk away from Century Communities completely. [name removed], Century Complete Sales Consultant, was the person who changed my mind and restored my confidence in the company. [name removed] was extremely helpful, patient, responsive, and genuine. If it had not been for her, I honestly would not have returned to Century Communities or continued with the purchase of our [name removed] home in Woodford. [name removed] treated me like an individual rather than a transaction. She listened to my concerns, answered what she could, and gave me peace of mind that she would be there whenever we needed assistance. That was especially important because I was already cautious after my first experience. She helped us recognize the value of the [name removed] floor plan, the five bedrooms, the flex room, the location of Lot 107 at [name removed] [name removed] [name removed], and the large backyard extending toward the wooded area. Her patience and willingness to help gave me enough confidence to reconsider Century Communities and move forward. [name removed], our Realtor, was also an essential part of our experience. [name removed] and her team were our advocates, guides, and cheerleaders throughout the process. She was patient, responsive, and committed to protecting our interests. Her support became especially important when we received incomplete or inconsistent information from the lender and had difficulty obtaining answers. Unfortunately, our experience with Inspire Home Loans created another major breakdown in trust. Our Loan Officer, [name removed], went on vacation during a critical time—approximately one week before our original July 23 closing date. We had already asked [name removed] several important questions before she left, but some of those questions remained unanswered. While [name removed] was away, we repeatedly attempted to contact the individuals assigned as her backups. Although I eventually spoke with one of the male backup representatives, he was not helpful. He repeatedly told me that he did not have access to my documents and that I would have to wait until [name removed] returned. If someone is assigned as a loan officer’s backup, that person should have sufficient access, information, or authority to assist the buyer—or immediately connect the buyer with someone who can. Telling a buyer to simply wait when closing is approximately one week away is not adequate backup coverage. Communication between [name removed] and our Realtor was also difficult. [name removed] did not initially appear receptive to communicating directly with [name removed]. Communication only became more coordinated after I included [name removed], [name removed], our Realtors, and the other involved parties together in the same email conversations. As the buyer, I should not have had to bring everyone into one conversation just to obtain consistent answers and make sure the professionals involved were communicating with one another. During this period, [name removed] remained available and continued trying to help us find solutions, even though the lending problems were not her responsibility. [name removed] even assisted us while she was on vacation, taking time away from her personal life to ensure that our needs were being addressed. We were deeply grateful, but she should not have been placed in a position where she had to work during her vacation to compensate for communication gaps elsewhere. Her willingness to do so demonstrates how strongly she cares about her customers and Century’s reputation. There was also unresolved confusion regarding buyer incentives. I am a Certified Pharmacy Technician employed by Cone Health, and we repeatedly attempted to determine whether I qualified for a healthcare-worker or hometown-hero incentive. We were directed back and forth between Century and the lender without receiving one clear, definitive answer. We also had questions involving the seller credit, refrigerator incentive, promotional dates, and whether a newer promotion could be applied without affecting the credit we had already negotiated. Even if the final answer was that I did not qualify, someone should have taken responsibility for researching the question and providing a clear written explanation. The closing process was also unnecessarily stressful. Our anticipated closing date changed from July 23 to July 30, then July 31, and ultimately August 3. Final approval, closing documents, cash-to-close figures, and wiring instructions were still being coordinated close to the expected closing dates. Meanwhile, we were attempting to coordinate work schedules, utilities, movers, childcare, and our obligation to vacate our previous residence by August 31. We understand that delays sometimes occur, but the repeated changes and reactive communication made an already stressful process much more difficult. Once we reached the orientation and move-in stage, our experience improved significantly because of [name removed], the Construction Manager at Woodford. [name removed] was phenomenal. He was knowledgeable, patient, helpful, and thorough during our new-home orientation and walkthrough. He took the time to explain the home, answer our questions, and ensure that we understood important features without making us feel rushed. He also helped us set up our refrigerator after move-in. [name removed] went beyond what we expected and is someone Century Communities should recognize, value, and make every effort to retain. One concern that arose after move-in involved the home’s internet connection. We were told that the home was wired for internet. However, when Spectrum arrived to activate our service, the technician drilled a new hole into our newly constructed home and dug or trenched through the yard, even though communication cables were already visible on the exterior of the house. This left us questioning whether the original wiring was incomplete, inaccessible, damaged, not connected to an interior endpoint, or simply unusable by the service provider. There needs to be greater clarity about the difference between internet or cable service being “available” and a home actually having a complete, accessible, and usable connection. Buyers should be told exactly what has been installed, where the interior and exterior connection points are located, and what work the service provider may still need to perform. Century should investigate this issue at Woodford to determine why Spectrum needed to drill into a brand-new home and disturb the lawn when exterior communication wiring appeared to have already been installed. Century Communities should also be very mindful of the individuals selected to represent its preferred lending partners because those individuals can either build or completely break a buyer’s trust. Other customers may have had excellent experiences, but I sincerely wish my experiences with the preferred lenders had been better. A buyer should feel educated, supported, and valued—not like a number, a quota, or an inconvenience for asking questions. Overall, [name removed] was the main superstar of our purchase experience. She restored my trust in Century Communities after my first disappointing experience and convinced me to return. She consistently made me feel important, heard, and supported. She did not simply sell us a house—she rebuilt our confidence in the company and helped us become Century homeowners. [name removed] deserves formal recognition, substantial praise, and serious consideration for a bonus or raise. [name removed] deserves the same recognition. His knowledge, patience, thoroughness, and willingness to help during our walkthrough and after move-in made us feel supported as new homeowners. [name removed] and [name removed] represent the level of customer care Century should want throughout the entire organization. Frankly, they both deserve significant bonuses and raises. Based on the recent quarterly report I reviewed, Century appears to be performing well and continuing to sell homes. The employees who directly create these successful customer experiences should share in that success and be recognized accordingly. [name removed] and [name removed] did not merely perform their assigned duties—they protected Century’s relationship with our family and left us with a positive impression despite the significant lending and communication problems we experienced. We are grateful for our home and proud that we completed the purchase. What we liked most was the personal support we received from [name removed], [name removed], and [name removed]. What we disliked most was having to chase information, demand explanations, and coordinate the professionals ourselves during both lending experiences. Our overall experience would have been significantly better if the lender representatives had demonstrated the same patience, accountability, communication, and individualized care that [name removed] and [name removed] provided. Those two employees showed us exactly what the Century Communities customer experience should look like from beginning to end.

Working with the onsite manager the day of the final walk through was the most memorable, due to unforeseen issue. As we conducted the walk in, we; [name removed] and I ran into a real life issue with the water and a small leak. He remained professional as he needed me to assist in turning the water value off, and quickly drain all the pipes in order to reduce any potential damage. He assured me that this is what the final through is for and that they will promptly get the issue fixed.

I was told they would keep an eye on the easement where the dirt had begun to erode. It has fallen away and nobody has checked on it. There were also 2 plugs that I have found are not working.

Everything about my purchase experience exceeded my expectations. The process was smooth, communication was great, and the home was fully ready when it was time to move in. I especially loved that all of the appliances were included, and the closing cost incentive was incredibly helpful and much appreciated. Thank you for making the entire experience so easy and enjoyable!

It was mostly like I was getting handed down to people or they didn’t keep me informed as much as I liked. I just didn’t like the uncertainty of it.

Not be able to close when I wanted. I had a terrible sewage problem construction debris was lodge in my down stairs bathroom pipes. Was not informed prior to closing that the internet was not installed. I still can’t not get mail to my house. Just a lot of loose ends not resolved.

The Century Complete team misrepresented the availability of the internet service and offered no reasonable solutions. They also tried fast tracking the closing date knowing that internet connectivity was not available and that I worked form home and needed reliable connectivity to do so. They also did not have the forethought to make sure the addresses of the home were updated and able to receive deliveries from the USPS and other couriers(fedex, UPS, DHS). There are still multiple issues that I am submitting warranty claims in order to have remediated after moving in.

[name removed] was rude at times and I feel like her and my loan officer weren’t on the same page. My loan officer was great but she was very rude and made comments like I would never progress to the next step.

I like the technology how easy it is to access the model homes but everything was very impersonal. When I bought the home I was hoping to get a greeting from them or a picture infront of the home I never really spoke to century complete just my realtor

The whole “$200 deposit” to secure the home was odd. Not being able to negotiate at all was not my favorite thing, either. Again - [name removed] was not helpful at all.
