Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

The inability to customize any facet of the house has caused a great financial burden after the completion of my home, as my elderly mother-in-law requires accessibility items that could have been included in construction instead of incurring tens of thousands of dollars of additional debt to tear out and replace items that we never wanted and she cannot use safely.

I will start with the positive side of purchasing our home. The construction manager, [name removed], was AMAZING!! Honestly, he was the only “real” person we spoke with. He made us feel like real people who were purchasing their first home, not just another number for their sales for the month. He was very informative and kind and helpful. We appreciated the help he provided us immensely. As a young couple purchasing their first home, he provided much needed information and reassurance in the process. The purchasing process was something out of a nightmare. [name removed] was pushy and uninformative. He threatened us with fees when we didn’t want to use his preferred lender, he rushed us and pushed us to close in 18 days (which is impossible if you have experience and know how home buying works) just to add numbers to his sales for the end of the June quarter. We think he was the opposite of warm and cozy and very much is a stereotypical sales representative. He wanted the commission and the sales numbers for the house. He didn’t care how uncomfortable it made us feel, he didn’t care that we were stressed 24/7, trying to submit documents within minutes so we were not penalized. Once we obviously missed our June closing date, he was in no rush to continue along with our home buying process. We felt like we were constantly working on [name removed]’s timeline alone, with absolutely NO consideration for us as buyers, the bank or even the USDA, who was approving our loan. I would not recommend him speaking with buyers directly. Immediately after reserving our home on the website, he put us in a group chat with our realtor. I personally think this added IMMENSE stress to us as buyers. He should have spoken directly to our realtor from the get-go, as you would when purchasing any other house. I would be happy to provide any screenshots and proof of conversations we had with [name removed] where he ran us in circles, never fully answered any of our questions and continuously threatened us with fees (which I know are in the contract; however they only came up when we weren’t moving fast enough to close in June, in 18 days like he wanted). We don’t run your company, but if we did, we would hire someone who is WAY more "for the people" and not for his numbers to meet his monthly or quarterly quota. I hate to think that he has made other couples or families feel this way. Buying a home is a special, personal experience and he made it feel like purchasing milk at the store. I would NEVER recommend to my friends and family to purchase from Century Complete, based on the sole fact they would have to converse back and forth with [name removed] to purchase their home. We absolutely adore our new home; it is perfect for us. However, [name removed] did not recommend the home, show us the home, nothing. We found it on Zillow and toured it. All he did for us was cause headaches, stress and fear.

Communication was great until closing day, as a first time buyer I was unaware about certain information and received the nastiest, unprofessional remarks and comments from [name removed] the title agent. She was so unprofessional that I couldn’t even enjoy my day. Her demeanor and attitude isn’t something someone should have to deal with from the closing wire to the “I’m busy I had 7 closing today I’m not sitting around waiting for your call, I was in the printing room making copies”. I feel like she was very unpleasant to work with. Even when I asked her about information regarding mortgage payments that I have yet to receive, she blow me off and said it will come in the mail.

I liked most the ease of communication. The staff always answered or responded with a call back. Even after the purchase I was called to be congratulated on the purchase and to see how everything was going with the home. I was also encouraged to call if any issues arose or if I had any questions. It feels nice to know throughout the process is was taken care of and to know that the company is doing all they can to truly make the homeowner feel welcomed and valued.

The part that I liked is that I have been able to talk to the construction manager and he's super responsive and attentive. That's the only thing so far.

Liked: Purchase online with deposit. Disliked: Mixed info on when closing. Never meeting in person. Delayed scheduling and chaos around dates seemed very uncertain and rushed.

Communication and explanation was excellent. All employees were friendly and knowledgeable. Very helpful when I had questions. There wasn't a mention of whether there would be a mailbox or mail tree. But that wasn't a big issue to resolve.

I like how easy all the paperwork was I didn’t like that the road is collapsing and my driveway is so steep that my car would scrap if I tried to go up it.
