Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.

Highly satisfied the situation mitigation by [name removed] on our closing date. She was able to work discrepancies with the title company and reduced the delay. Response time and follow up calls were great!

Both my husband and I felt like the blue tape walk through felt rushed and because we were out of town for the follow up, some items were missed. Overall happy about the base standard quality that Century Communities operates at.

[name removed] was the best part of our experience with Century. From start to finish her level of customer service far exceeded our expectations. She responded to any questions promptly, allowed us the ability to measure as needed, sent weekly updates and check ins and was not bothered by me bringing friends and family to see the model home (repeatedly.) My good friend purchased with [name removed] and she was actually jealous of the level of customer service we received from [name removed]. I would highly recommend century to any friend moving forward and [name removed] is an incredible asset to your company.

3 1/2 weeks from ernest money down payment to closing was fantastic. It went fast and smooth. Everyone on the staff was great and very personable. I’ve got nothing but great things to say about my experience.

Working with century communities was nothing short of a nightmare. Every single individual within the company we worked with was completely incompetent and made significant errors in regards to our home. Our home was delayed 6 months because someone put the incorrect address on paperwork that was sent to the assessors office. After this six month delay and once we got closer to closing, century communities was impossible to get in contact with. Our agent, [name removed], ghosted us completely the last two weeks before close. The incorrect address continued to be an issue as Century communities never informed Inspire home loans (yes YOUR LENDER) that they had the incorrect address. This meant we had to sign all of our closing documents twice. Once with the incorrect address, then once with the correct address. This isn’t because anyone with century communities noticed the inaccuracy, but because we notice and contacted our real estate agent, who contacted century communities. Neither we, nor our real estate agent heard from century and it wasn’t until we tracked down our lender that we got new documents. We were told that we would receive our keys on the 22nd of December. We got delayed due to the address on closing documents issue. We were told we would get them on the 23rd then. We again did not hear from anybody until we physically went into the office on the 23rd and were told that the title company hadn’t approved that yet. I contacted the title company who informed me that they needed the certificate of occupancy to complete their end. I told the agent in the office and he said, “wow that should’ve been caught forever ago.” I waited while the agent called the builder to see if he hadn’t sent the document over, only to overhear that the builder had sent certificate of occupancy a week prior, and it was waiting in the front office employees inbox. If we did not hound every single employee at your company to do their job I don’t see how anything would have been done. In addition to this, century communities did all they could to avoid our real estate agent despite both us and our agent reaching out multiple times to include her in updates and send her copies of our documents. They refused or “forgot” regarding every. Single. Document. We are so far from recommending this company to anyone that we would actually go out of our way to inform any buyers to avoid this company at all costs.

Never compromised from the beginning. Took 21+ days to negotiate a price, left our new house very dirty, rushed through both walk thru’s just so they could close on the home when they wanted, over spray and paint all over floors, plumbing installed on the wrong wall in the laundry room, was told it would be fixed, another lie. No window in square, makes it fun hanging blinds, some walls are not square and visually appealing. Outlet/light switch placements make ZERO sense. Sheetrock in garage very poorly mudded and finished. Kitchen island is not level. Door molding needs replaced/construction workers installed water damaged trim… the list goes on, I hope these will be fixed within the year warranty phase.

I spent 3 days on the phone with the salesman, their coworker, the title company in Bothell, the title company locally, the lender, the lenders boss, the construction manager, the underwriting office, and others, after being assured we would close timely, and all parties blamed each other until I could push for closing. I feel like some finishes were misrepresented, and I had a couple instances where I was told some things could be changed (back yard landscaping, kitchen tile, front door paint), and those this did not happen. I have a 3/8th inch gap under the garage door causing constant whistling, no hand towel fixture in the half bath, no fridge for a week after closing, then a downgraded fridge, tape/texture issue in upstairs bathroom. All the employees were very nice, but things did not go smoothly. I initiated this sale, and convinced another person to buy a home in this development. Both have closed now.
