Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:...read more

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. I did not like the fact that the builder sales person fail to complete all the touch up work at the last walk through before closing. I was very disappointed, but after a few request from our realtor, they were able to accomplished task on time.

Well, I had three issues with the house so far and I only been there less than a week. I had to file two claims. I have a leak in the master shower and the outside specked is not working. During my walk I mention a few things that needed it to get fix and it never did. 1.I don't have an air filter for the AC unit, the gentleman that did my walk promise me one. 2. The bottom of the guest toilet needs cocking so is not finished 100%. 3.when they laid the SOD down, they didn't do it right. some of it has 4 inches apart. 4.I also pointed out that one of the walls was crooked during the final two walks and needed it to get fix and it never did. Now, everything time I walk into that room, I have to look at the my crooked wall.5. The washer machine was never installed 100%. Now I have to take time off from work and time from my kids to get all these issues resolve. I think when you're buying a brand new house everything should be up to customer satisfaction. Correct?. YES, I know that all these issues are under warranty BUT that's beside the point at this moment. This is costing me time and money. Thanks- [name removed]

We were very disappointed Our closing date got pushed back because the closing manager mixed up our closing date with another, causing my family of 8 to stay in a hotel for 3 nights, spend money on 2 storage units for all our stuff and find housing for our animals.

The timeframe to move in kept being pushed back! I loved that the process itself moved fast!

Our application and to get the mortgage was very stressful. I understand each family has a different background/income etc. But from the start to end was very stressful every day something was changing in our process. Thank god people like [name removed] and [name removed] were there to help us through this process.

When we put the contract on the home, we were told the home would start the building process within 2 weeks. Then it sat for months. We were told that there was a change in land clearing contractors and that it would begin soon. Finally, it was cleared, then it sat again and sat some more. Several people from the company told us that Century Complete dropped the ball on our home and multiple things were never ordered to be done. During this whole process my wife, 3 children and our cats had to leave the state to stay with family as our rental home we were in was sold. I stayed behind in FL with a friend. This put a great deal of stress on our family. It was discouraging to see multiple other homes being completed that were put under contract well after our home being completed and little to no progress on our home. We felt as though no one from Century Complete cared about us. Then we were given a guarantee that it would be completed and we made arrangements for my family to return to Florida, only to find out the closing was delayed AGAIN. We ended up living in a hotel for a week, while having to use money that was set aside for closing and other things we would need for the house. We finally got Century to pay for the hotel and food expenses that we had. That said, we still have not been contacted to get the $250 that could not be added to our closing costs. There are MULTIPLE issues with the home and it has been a fight to get anyone out to fix anything. We have no hot water in our downstairs bathroom, the kitchen sink has some sort of issue with the cold water, the floor in our loft is not right and this was known before closing. Our driveway design is not correct and has not been graded properly, it is already cracking and the dirt under in is washing out because the way they did it. The kitchen counter top has a huge gap under the corner by the dishwasher. My husband, who has worked in construction, told our construction manager about this and then told him that they needed to put shims under and then move the trim up to fix it. It was not shimmed, rather they just moved the trim up and caulked around it. If anything gets sat on that corner it is going to break the counter top. We are extremely unhappy with the entire building process and the company. We absolutely would not recommend this company to anyone.

I truly cannot find anything positive to say about the preferred lender. I do feel the total lack of customer service and poor mortgage product knowledge contributed to a particularly poor experience that I regret even having bothered with to be honest. After switching lenders, I was much more satisfied and was happy working with the builder directly knowing my home loan was genuinely being taken care of. I will say that I was disappointed by the lack of the builder to negotiate with me here and there but overall I am very happy with the home we have for the price. I particularly appreciated the kind customer service [name removed], [name removed], and [name removed] provided at the end of the transaction. There were some bumps, but nothing worth throwing a fit about and we are extremely happy to finally be homeowners. I do wish there was an opportunity to upgrade a few things with the home and that would be my only suggestion to them. I would have gladly rolled upgrades into the purchase price if that option had existed. Other than that we look forward to personalizing our new build and feel very blessed to be owners of a lovely home in a lovely area.

[name removed] and [name removed] are awesome! Always quick to answer my questions even after closing. They gave me great tips to keep my freshly laid sod alive (since I stink at keeping plants alive!). Closing was a bit frustrating as the date kept changing and I had to request the time off from work as well as their being mixed information between inspire home loans and the title company.

[Translated from ES] It was a decision with century Complete they are not organized, one day they called me and told me that I was going to cancel my contract and [name removed] Velázquez tells me that house is not for you, it has already gone up in value and can be sold more expensively, I started to cry and I just thought what happens to him where the costumer service is, that is not done to anyone, they treated me well badly but there is a person that I thank very much for helping me not to cancel and he explained everything to me, it was [name removed] juhnke I recommend her she is a love and has a big heart

Loan agent hardly communicated. No one communicated with each other so no one knew what was going on.
