Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.

Actually it came together pretty well. Being I am 87 years old I was concerned as to the garage floor coming in from outside with that 2" step up of concrete. I put tape down to remind myself not to trip.

Quality of the build is awful, walls not plumb Or level,gaps in miter joints Was told we would have vinyl hardwood floor,instead vinyl lenoluim Paint is very low grade touch it and it leaves marks or fingerprints Windows and doors are not leveled Outside of house paint is not even or uniform, already flaking Grading of the property is a mess , erosion from adjourning properties, debris laying everywhere, plastic,metal and vinyl half buried in yard Along with wiring and electrical receptacles Overall worst decision of my life,now I’m stuck with a money pit !!!

I wish we could’ve walked through a finished home, seen appliances that kind of thing. The vinyl floors are THE WORST! The tear up with any little push or pull. I hate that I just bought a new home so I wouldn’t have to fuss over replacements and am already thinking about needing to upgrade the floors to planks. Otherwise the buying process was simple for buying a house. The granite countertops are a huge plus as well. My only other complaint is that no one thought to put a light in the walk in pantry. The contractor ([name removed] I think) was very helpful and gave good overviews without overwhelming us with information.

I am very disappointed with the entire purchase process with this company . I love the home , I have never owned previously to this purchase , however the process and people that I had to deal with were very unprofessional making the experience very poor and unsatisfactory. My sales coordinator , [name removed] was rude to me in various occasions verbally over the phone and also via email , everytime I asked questions regarding the progress of my home . Also , I feel as though century complete needs a better system for staff and promises . I was told I would be receiving a google mini with my purchase and I have yet to receive response regarding actual obtaining it and when I ask about it , I still don’t get clarification. As Corporate it needs to get better. Also , being told by [name removed] verbally that my home would be ready first week of March and didn’t get completed until end of April .

I disliked not being allowed to make a time to come to the site to see my home being built. The yard was left with trash on the ground and a shingles bag still in the tree. The site wasn’t prepped for sod and huge chunks of gravel left where seed was thrown. Grading was not sufficient and erosion run off has created two deep ruts across our yard on either side and has wiped the seed down the hill and the erosion ditch grows and washes more sand and soil to the back of the yard.

Amount of Down Payment was changed after I wrote the contract. I disclosed I was a investor at time of Sale, and after I signed my side of the contract I was asked to put 10% down. When I purchased the foundation was started. I could not get any time frame of the timing of closing at sheetrock so that I could lock in the interest rate. The mortgage LO did not return calls and took over a week to get a loan estimate to me. The interest rate changed so much and it required me to come with over 10k in Closing Costs after Century paid 5k towards the cost. That was because they closing date was not communicated until roughly 40 days before closing and rates were rising so fast. I had to scramble to pay cash for the home because of the slow communication of Century and Inspire. Century refused to pay any closing costs after putting me in that situation. This is my 2nd Century home that I have purchased and both have not been great experiences. The builder/Superintendent did work hard on completing the home and I was satisfied in the end with home. The customer experience was lacking on both purchases. I wouldn't have purchased either homes, if I didn't know they were underpriced for the market. I am not surprised with the disregard for the buyer's experience given the market conditions of the past 2 years; but as things slow while interest rates rise; referrals and reputation with play a larger role. There are still a few things not quite taken care of with my house. The toilets have constant issues because of the way they were installed and my sliding screen on my sliding glass door just doesn't fit.
