Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers
Springville, on Feb 21, 2024
They are quick to respond with any issues along the way. Everyone is kind and approachable- realtors, builders, warranty, HOA: etc. My experience has been nothing but positive. I’m a mortgage underwriter and I look at appraisals every day for other states. The materials of the houses and the interior with New Castle caught my eye when I used to underwrite loans for Alabama. When I started looking for a home in this area, New Castle was at the top of my list - and still is. Plus, I highly doubt you get an orientation walk or walk through with your actual builder with any other new construction company unless you are doing a custom build. If I’ve ever needed anything, [name removed] is on it! I just appreciate everyone and I love my house! As a side note, I have a family member that is in commercial construction. The first time he came over and I gave him the tour, he also went into two of the attic spaces. He was just nodding his head up and down the whole time. He liked the quality and told me I had a good house!

A little slow at times but the end result is has been good.

[name removed], the superintendent was amazing to work with.
Springville, on Oct 24, 2023
Our overall experience with New Castle has been very disappointing and frustrating. They do not do what they say or what is right.
Springville, AL, on Sep 19, 2024
I really have nothing negative To say. The whole process was pretty smooth from beginning to end. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Everything was laid out and transparent. They answered all of our questions and took care of any concerns we had. We would have liked to have been able to customize the guitar a little more, but other than that no complaints.

We love our home, the floorplan, design and layout. We have had several items over the last 10 months that have been a bit troubling none greater than a continued significant drainage issue in and around our property. The area our home is in is a low area and the collection spot for water coming from either side of our property and there just was not enough underground drainage put in and around our home and surrounding areas. While Newcastle did have the landscaper come in back in February and redo some of our back yard and install 4" or 6" drains which has helped to dissipate the water but its still not enough. We continue to have water flowing through our backyard and around/down both of sides of our house. This will erode the property over time and has already caused damage to our privacy fence in the form of warped fence boards and will eventually wash out fence post footings and cause the wood to rot prematurely.
Springville, on Dec 22, 2023
I only had one small issur with a tile that was fixed the day i called.
Springville, AL, on Sep 05, 2024
We liked the honestly that was brought upfront when picking a home and the designs. We did not like the fact that there were weeks we had to ask for updates and multiple times we drove by, workers were working on other homes on the street that were framed after ours when our home wasnt being worked on. There were also things we were told that was contradictory and never taken care of until the day of the final walk thru.
Springville, on Sep 23, 2023
I like the floor pan, design features and amount of land. I dislike some of the work done by landscapers was not correct, building crew left debris everywhere in the home and yard, sprinkler defective, plumbers messed up shower/tub had hole in it that was patched up instead of replaced per my multiple request’s and furnace in upstairs area gas was leaking a month while we were inside the home huge safety hazard contractors overlooked this. I’m only 50% liking the home or outdoor area.

We still haven’t had our paint on our ceiling retouched after we had a roof leak as promised. [name removed] they were also supposed to come out and recheck the leak repair and they haven’t. It’s been a few months now.
Springville, AL, on Aug 05, 2024
It was a very smooth process, [name removed] was very thorough with the walk through and helping show me how to work everything. Nothing negative to note.
Springville, on Jul 04, 2023
I love our home and how easy it was to work with New Castle.
Springville, on Oct 11, 2023
Told I'd get a full size door on the room above the garage, did not get one. Fit and finish is poor. Construction supervisor told me after we'd signed the paperwork, "You signed now, it's on you." Security installer asked right off, "Are you going to buy anything?" Cracks in back porch. Only sodded half the yard. Home was supposed to be finished August/ September 2022. Not finished until after March 2023.
Springville, AL, on Jun 14, 2024
I really enjoyed the constant communication from start to finish. Anything that needed to be handled got handled.
Springville, on Jun 30, 2023
They have been slow to respond and show up to repair all my warranty needs. They promised things at closing that have not been done.

Springville, on May 30, 2023
Follow up from New Castle Warranty department. Repairs not completed upon notification.
Springville, on Sep 12, 2023
I don’t really have any complaints. Anything that New Castle could take care of directly, they did. Knock on wood, I haven’t had anything that caused a major inconvenience or interfered with daily life. The only thing that hasn’t been done is a drawer replacement in the kitchen. The cabinet man showed up one day in May, but has never been back. But, the drawer works, so I have that down to be done before my year is up. I know if this was something [name removed] or [name removed] could have done, it would have already been done.
Springville, AL, on Jan 26, 2024
I liked the total experience because I was able to sell My CA home and move directly into the New Castle home. It was difficult to make this move happen but with the New Castle agent my agent and AVESCROWCA everything came together very well.
Springville, on Apr 04, 2023
Poor quality Sheetrock finish in our home. Had to fire several construction managers; unfortunately, ours was one of the ones that had to be fired. We submitted requests to fix door sticking and damage to door and cracked grout in floor of bathroom. We submitted requests for sheetrock to be repaired and finished up to quality; they said they did the best they could do; however, it was still did not meet the quality we have had in other homes; we had built. After completing sheetrock, they did not attempt to repair crack in bathroom floor or the front door as we had requested several times before. They are now coming back for 11 month review To schedule maintenance on the cracked tile and front door and possibly rethink the sheetrock issue. I guess we will see if they resolve the issues. The granite is the worst I have ever seen in the 6 houses we have lived in. I do not believe it was properly sealed before it was installed. We love the layout of the house and feel it is a shame that they build such a nice home with less than quality Sheetrock finishes and granite. I guess it depends on the luck of the draw with which subcontractors work on your home.

Still waiting and working to get a couple things completed/fixed...such as the water issue in the backyard.
Springville, AL, on Dec 22, 2023
We had several issues when we first moved. The sewer pump was not working and no one seemed to take this issue seriously until I called the office myself to speak to someone about the importance of sewage not being spilled into our yard. Additionally, we had an issue with not having a plug in place to have the internet installed properly. I was told my the warranty department that I needed to tell the internet provider to “put a little elbow grease into it” after I repeatedly asked for a NewCastle representative be here when it was installed. We didn’t get an agreement for someone from Newcastle to be here until my husband emailed from his company email. We had several other issues, however, these were professionally addressed for the most part.
Springville, on Mar 21, 2023
I liked the options that were available to choose. Whether it was level 1 options or upgrading. With that being said the more upgrades you add to your home. The more opportunities for them to mess up depending on how well organized your contractor is.
Springville, on May 15, 2023
Defective shrubs, grass sod in multiple areas of landscaping around the home. Extreme amounts of non biodegradable debris buried right below the surface.. Not provided any warranty booklets nor manufacturer manuals for major appliances. Nails are screws visible from roof wood and gutters , cracked foundation on porch , garage, driveway. Patched cement in garage that never blended like we were told prior to closing. Faded large black metal hinges on out side of garage doors, poor drainage around back porch lawn and edges of yard between each neighbors yard. Mailbox door hard to close rusty. Tree in front yard wasn’t installed properly and leans over during heavy winds, upstairs bathtub water doesn’t come out the faucet.
Springville, AL, on Dec 14, 2023
The purchase experience was great, we got weekly updates on the progress of the home which was great, and LouAnn was wonderful to work with and was very responsive to questions. Unfortunately we were living out of state while our home was being built and I feel like there’s so many minor, but annoying things that were missed during the completion of our home.
Springville, on Mar 09, 2023
Carpet is horrible! Very poor quality! It takes forever for water to get hot in kitchen. Sprinkler system in back is in the wrong spot. Ground stays saturated. Painting is sloppy. There's no caulking in one of the bathroom vanity. Shower time in MBR was not the one we picked. They installed the wrong one. The swell in the backyard cut out a lot of space in our backyard. Bathroom mirrors are ugly and looks cheap. We love the color of our house. We like the Sprinkler system.
Springville, on Mar 15, 2023
Great quality quiet neighborhood. Extremely the best clean community.
Springville, on Apr 13, 2022
The biggest issue I have is the quality of concrete. Cracks and Holes are abundant. My front and back porches were poured with slab and exposed to mud tracked on for months and are stained and look like crap. Also, the time its going take to get Paved Roads!! etc,.
Springville, on Dec 31, 2022
Great follow-up by the warranty department as well as the realtor [name removed] [name removed]!! A little disappointed with some of the subcontractors and their follow-up concerning work order appointments.
Springville, AL, on Dec 10, 2023
I did not like there was some things said through word of mouth that did not match what was actually going to happen; we thought the attic was floored per the builder and then we ended up coming out of pocket with it. I don’t like that we were told the back yard was fully sodded and come to find out in was a portion and we were never given the option to sod the rest. Things like that. Communication could have been better.
Springville, on Feb 15, 2022
Likes: Anything we have brought up as a warranty item was addressed. With the exception of the large trenches in our backyard. We still have a few that were missed with sand when they came to fix our warranty claim item. Dislikes: Lack of communication between Newcastle folks to other Newcastle folks have caused issues for us. The HOA agreement needs to be amended and restated to allow for fines for those in violation of the covenant before the HOA is turned over to the homeowners. Expenses and income for the HOA should be broken down and mailed or emailed to all members of [name removed] for full transparency or an annual audit should be performed by a CPA firm. There should at the very least be an annual meeting of the HOA to discuss issues within our neighborhood and a board should be created.
Springville, on Dec 09, 2022
There are a couple of things that have not been completed that were noted at closing.
Springville, on Jan 20, 2022
I had good experiences with the real estate agents and most builders. I am very concerned with the condition of my siding, especially on the fireplace side. It is rippling and is getting worse. I have reported this before. Also, a man came out January 10th to repair a piece of flooring in the kitchen but did have the right match. He called later that day and said he found a match in the warehouse and would be out [name removed], the 14th, and never came or called. His name is [name removed].
Springville, on Oct 28, 2022
Unfortunately they had a slow response time previously when we had immediate time sensitive issues. Hopefully that issue has been resolved due to the change in staff. We haven't had any immediate issues since the change.
Springville, AL, on Sep 15, 2023
[name removed] was outstanding in the work she did for us. We were moving from out of state and had to change the dates on our prepurchase visits several times, and she was always willing to work with us. The project managers in our neighborhood were great. Any time we had a question at move in they were there to help. [name removed] was fantastic.
Springville, on Jan 07, 2022
My biggest concern is the quality of workmanship in the home. I truly worry that in a few years major problems will occur and it will be at the fault of poor contractors and no quality control oversight. Ultimately the responsibility of New Castle regardless of who actually performed the work, as you are the GM and builder.
Springville, on Sep 30, 2022
Dislikes: Poor quality of the craftsmanship, especially the painting. Uneven. Sloppy. Nails on beams showing through. Poor quality carpet and flooring. No preparation of having internet available, soon after moving in. The slowness of getting hot water. Size of the back porch. So small. Doorknobs don't match. Bathroom mirrors plain and ugly. Yard uneven. Too many holes. Likes: Style and color of houses. [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], and [name removed]. Sprinkler systems.
Springville, AL, on Aug 17, 2023
Lack of following through on commitments made by builder. Lack of care and timeliness.
Springville, on Dec 25, 2021
To start off with good news, this will be our first and last Newcastle home. Every week, I find more and more issues with this house. Things like cracks in the sheet rock, nails coming up from the walls and floor, humidity levels very high only in certain rooms, studs not 16 apart, nails sticking up from out of the como plank, wooden stairs not stained to match the como plank, several heat bubbles in the vinyl siding, a crack in the upstairs bathtub,, and several other issues. The building was obviously sloppy even though it took several months more than was originally projected. Some of these issues have been brought up to Newcastle and the builder, but I realize that the head builder was let go a few months ago. It has honestly gotten to the point of so many issues that I forget or don’t have time to even bring them up. It is definitely more trouble than it’s worth. Empty promises seem to be a main theme across the board, and those that make these promises are somehow allowed to remain working for Newcastle even though several customers are unhappy with them. I have shared with so many people about how unhappy we are with Newcastle, and I can only hope that this house will still be able to sell due to the reputation. On another note, I have tried twice to write a Google review for Newcastle, but it keeps getting deleted. Things must be pretty bad since reviews have to be monitored and true low reviews removed to protect the reputation of the company. The few low reviews that were still on Google were very relatable, and we have many of the same issues as several other customers seem to have. Overall, I am and have always been very displeased with Newcastle as a whole. I do not want to call out anyone in particular, because that never seemed to do any good anyways. Instead, I will be eagerly counting down the days until moving day.
Springville, on Jan 02, 2022
We filled out a survey not long after closing on the house in July. We then listed the problems that were present. You fired the builder but have never sent anyone else out to check on the issues. Newcastle is all about promoting their "newest phase" but you don't address the issues with the houses that have already been closed on. Our driveway is literally disintegrating, with rocks and mud coming up through the holes. This was one of our major concerns right up front but no one has come out to address the issue. We upgraded our fireplace with a brick hearth. The quality is inferior. Sand continues to come off of the bricks. A reputable company would care about the craftmanship in their homes being built and the quality of the products used, AND would listen to the homeowners' concerns when problems arise. Sending a survey doesn't accomplish anything if you aren't going to send people out to rectify the problems.

Can not get warranty items done, sent certified letter to their warranty dept a month ago and they never responded!
Springville, on Sep 28, 2021
Very pleased with the sales team and the contractor(s) during our home buying experience. My only complaint so far is the warranty process that you have to go through for a repair during the first year. It doesnt flow and the communication is not great. Overall I am happy.
Springville, AL, on Jul 16, 2023
This house is terrible. Your builders are good at hiding their flaws until you move in then shortly after you move in the house starts falling apart. I still can not sleep in my master bedroom because how hot it is. Even after the A/C guy has come out 2 times. The issue it that there is hardly any insulation above my master bedroom and your builder [name removed] is too proud or too stupid to admit it or fix it.

Springville, on Mar 31, 2021
Very nice homes .... the follow up in the warranty department is good, I know their hands are tied by the subs, but there needs to be a better way to make that more efficient, not sure how you can do that depending on subcontractors.... but it does slow The process down .... [name removed] is good though, very pleasant

The response time when requesting warranty service is a little slow, but my needs have been met once the request is answered.

[name removed] has been phenomenal since my first interaction with her. I enlisted the "help" of my own realtor after I already had the appointment with [name removed] set up. I literally never saw my realtor again until closing and her communication was minimal. [name removed] is just a gem and a wonderful person. She goes above and beyond - sending photos of progress and weekly check-ins while the house is being finished. I would absolutely reach out to her if I ever know anyone looking for a home - or, if for some reason I ever sell and need another home. She is my number 1 choice on who I'd call on for any future needs for a realtor. She is almost family now - and has met most of my family throughout the process. My sister is the one that basically referred to [name removed] as a "gem" and I find that quite fitting. [name removed] and [name removed]...so great!! My orientation walk with them was great. They walked me through the home and the features. They were honestly so much fun and I felt like I've known them forever. I have not felt that anyone involved in my whole process was anything but genuine and honest. Most people wouldn't say that about their builder/s, but I never felt like I was being mislead or given any "fluff" statements or information. What you see is what you get with them and that is what I like. Both are super nice, but also do not beat around the bush. Both [name removed] and [name removed] are approachable and easy to talk to / communicate with. They gave me a lot of great advice and information. I haven't bought a house in almost 20 years. A lot has changed in amenities in homes. I still have a lot to learn and remember, but I am so thankful and grateful for this house. The timing has all been right on point. When I saw the [name removed] plan on the website, I knew that was my favorite, but wasn't sure if I could "swing it" financially. Lucky for me, this one had just been marked down $15k... I told [name removed] I'd be back the following day to sign my contract. I knew about New Castle Homes because of my job as an underwriter. New Castle has always stood out above other local builders I've seen appraisals for - [name removed], [name removed], [name removed]; etc. New Castle has always stood above the rest based on what I had seen and I still stand by that. Is any hour perfect? Of course not. I know I have a few things here that they are going to take a peek at for me, but I have no regrets and would absolutely recommend New Castle to family and friends.
Springville, on Nov 18, 2020
Poor paint job on walls and trim. Asked to have it fixed before closing. Painters did poor job fixing. Still have brown showing through on some trim. Have had warranty issues ongoing since June or July. It's kind of expected as houses go up quick, but for $300k+, should not have sloppy jobs done.
Springville, on Mar 10, 2021
Was told before move in by the quality guy he would stay in touch about the grate of the side yard that was holding water to see if it would get better or if it would need to be fixed. Have not seen or heard from anyone. The yard still holds water because the slope of the yard comes to a low spot in the middle. Also the lights keep falling out of the ceiling

Great quality quiet neighborhood. Extremely the best clean community.

Great follow-up by the warranty department as well as the realtor [name removed] [name removed]!! A little disappointed with some of the subcontractors and their follow-up concerning work order appointments.

There are a couple of things that have not been completed that were noted at closing.

Unfortunately they had a slow response time previously when we had immediate time sensitive issues. Hopefully that issue has been resolved due to the change in staff. We haven't had any immediate issues since the change.

The response time when requesting warranty service is a little slow, but my needs have been met once the request is answered.

Our overall experience with New Castle has been very disappointing and frustrating. They do not do what they say or what is right.

I love our home and how easy it was to work with New Castle.

I liked the options that were available to choose. Whether it was level 1 options or upgrading. With that being said the more upgrades you add to your home. The more opportunities for them to mess up depending on how well organized your contractor is.

The biggest issue I have is the quality of concrete. Cracks and Holes are abundant. My front and back porches were poured with slab and exposed to mud tracked on for months and are stained and look like crap. Also, the time its going take to get Paved Roads!! etc,.

My biggest concern is the quality of workmanship in the home. I truly worry that in a few years major problems will occur and it will be at the fault of poor contractors and no quality control oversight. Ultimately the responsibility of New Castle regardless of who actually performed the work, as you are the GM and builder.

Very pleased with the sales team and the contractor(s) during our home buying experience. My only complaint so far is the warranty process that you have to go through for a repair during the first year. It doesnt flow and the communication is not great. Overall I am happy.

Very nice homes .... the follow up in the warranty department is good, I know their hands are tied by the subs, but there needs to be a better way to make that more efficient, not sure how you can do that depending on subcontractors.... but it does slow The process down .... [name removed] is good though, very pleasant
