I was thinking about the water flowing in my backyard

I have no dislikes. As a first time homeowner, from start to finish, the process was smooth and communication was excellent. During the blue tape, I felt assured that all issues were going to be resolved as the NewCastle team took it seriously and wanted everything to be perfect.

Two topics that has not make me feel completely satisfied with Newcastle. First topic, noisy air vent. One of your contractors came about a month ago to replace the vent from the master bedroom, he noticed same condition from the living room area, he said he will order them and replace but never came back. This is now replaced and have no further issues with this. The second issue involved plumbing. Last Wednesday (12/03) we noticed that the toilet from the master bathroom was not flushing; tried a plunger and it did not unclog it. Left it like that with the plan that for the following morning I would have more time and deal with this. We did not used that toilet at all since then. That night I took a shower at the master bathroom and was weird since you could hear like something was filling out (later I learned the whole pipe was getting filled). In the morning, drainage smell started to be noticeable, used the plunger again and still not flushing. Left for work and around midmorning my wife flushed the toilet (just water) and it worked normal. Later that afternoon she put a washer load, and everything was working normal. About 7pm I went back home, my wife was also out and when opened the master bedroom the drainage smell was really intense, and we opened the bathroom door found out that the drainage came back and overflowed into the shower and the tub (have pictures, which I am not including here but available if needed). First thing I did was to try to get help, I know [name removed] lives in the community, I went and knock her door and she direct me to [name removed] who was the person who handed the home to us almost a year ago. Jesses asked me to confirm the condition of the septic pump/panel and that we should have an alarm running since it was clogged. Nor the alarm or the red-light indicator were on at that moment, and no alarm was noticeable whatsoever. [name removed] then told us that he was calling the plumbing company, and if there was something that they did due to the construction aside our home might cause the clog, that NewCastle will take care of the charges, but if there was something that my family did to clog the system, then we would need to pay for the service. Next day plumbers arrived, performed different checks, and as you can read, they found nothing clogging the pipes. At the end they asked me to cover for their service. I have decided to send you this email since we have been really responsible with our home, normal use of the toilet and normal toilet paper disposal and I cannot accept that this was the cause of clogging and overflowing the system like it did. Plumbers ran the camera through the pipelines, nothing detected to be the cause of the clog. To be clear, what I am looking for is an statement from NewCastle to confirm that 1) there was no reason for the construction next door causing to obstruct drainage and clog my house, 2) confirm that the septic panel and alarm were properly set to alert and assist me as owner with the pipelines getting filled and obstruction was present and 3) that all the pipeline material used to build this home from drainage standpoint was to the quality expected along with proper level arrangements to let the drainage to flow properly. Otherwise, I respectfully request a reimbursement (charges attached) since I am completely sure me or my family did not dispose any type of liquid, paper or anything that is not responsibly safe for the environment to dispose through a toilet. We use normal and regular soap and shampoo that might not be the cause of any clogging, and we kept this small shower drain protector to catch hair coming into the drainage. We have never used the bathtub, ever, we have only cleaned it when needed, so we are sure nothing came through that drain. Washer is the same, we don’t have special cloth or anything that might cause a clog and we use the regular liquid soap for washing machine that we buy at Costco or [name removed]’s. Now, I would be paying for an annual plumbing check that this company offered, but having a brand-new home, makes me think something else happened than we (owners) really did not cause this situation. With this being said, I will be waiting for your response on replacing the air vents and the statement about the plumbing event. We also paid for external support to come and clean our bathroom completely ($150 USD), but that is on me at this point. Thanks,

The builder's agent was very rude and not easy to work with. I dreaded having to contact her about anything. I felt rushed throughout the whole process. I wish I had left my earnest money and not closed on the home. Not all the issues with the home were fixed prior to closing. he blemishes in the home that were identified on the first walkthrough were either not fixed or they looked worse after they were "fixed." Some issues looked better before they were "fixed" so I just didn't say anything on the final walkthrough. I cleaned up 5 beer bottles in the backyard after closing and the air filter was so dirty that I'm almost certain it was the original one from when the house was built 2 years ago. I have already had to send emails to the warranty line. I wish I had backed out of this home purchase and will not recommend a NewCastle home to anyone.

My experience during the 1 year warranty was very positive. The builder who attended to our queries, [name removed], was excellent. I'm certain he played the biggest impact to the way I feel about Newcastle Homes. The negative side is not related to my home, but the community. Residents struggled to get Newcastle to honor commitments about the pond and we have a substantial HOA fee for very little amenities (As compared to Newcastle communities within our region) - Personally, I believe there should be more transparency with the HOA funds.

Over and over calls emails regarding water issues. Attempted to stop standing water but was not fixed. I had to spend own money to put stones/pavers down just to be able to walk. Mud stayed In our home for months. Fastest thing I seen supervisor do was bring a piece of paper to me to sign that stated if they replaced sid that would be it. Just a big scam on your warranty. Wear you out until you fix it yourself then it voids their watmrranty.

Quality of the home is very good, from what we can tell. Communications with [name removed] and others has been good for the most part. I'm still waiting on a response for several warranty related topics that need to be resolved. And of course, extremely unhappy with the current situation in the neighborhood relative to the fiber. Seems to be alot of uncertainty about who's in charge, and who allowed it to happen in the way it has happened.

I thoroughly enjoyed my purchase experience. The gentleman that did the walkthrough with me as well the blue tape walkthrough was extremely kind and courteous. I’m pleased with knowing how honest he was and with any minor issue after the fact he was quick to respond and fix the issue.

Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.
