Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers

Pell City, AL, on Sep 12, 2025

The communication with the warranty office was great. They had quick responses and seemed to assign my issues to individuals to get the problems solved, but there was often no follow through. There are items on the list that were made before closing that have never been addressed.

Didn’t seem to be an urgency about fixing the blue tape items. Several things were done at my walk through. Overall the experience was okay.

Karen and Gerry have been on top of the few warranty repairs that we have requested. I can’t be more pleased with their customer service. We love our house.

We continue to have serious issues with the quality of work in our home. Many repairs that were completed have already failed within weeks, and several items were never properly addressed. For a home listed at $400,000, the level of workmanship is unacceptable. Below is a full list of concerns: Drywall cracks have reappeared in the same areas previously repaired. Bathroom tile has cracked again in the same location. Beam dividing the living room and kitchen has cracked again in the same spots it was repaired. Driveway has cracks, and we were told to contact the internet company, though the damage occurred during construction. A hole remains in the driveway where workers walked on wet cement; it was patched with quick-dry cement that does not match. Door stops were never installed, causing a hole in the wall from the door lock. Front door does not lock correctly. Nails are sticking up through the carpet, likely due to floors not being cleaned before carpet installation. Paint is discolored where caulk or drywall putty was used instead of proper repair. Sprinklers in the backyard are still not placed where we were told they would be moved. Nails are sticking out of the siding. Yard is uneven and bumpy due to poor grading before sod installation. Large rocks were left under the sod, making it impossible to plant anything. Workers damaged paint upstairs with their air hose hanging over the stair rail/wall. At this point, it is difficult to say anything positive about our experience. We are paying $400,000 for this home, yet the quality does not reflect that value. We now understand why so many homeowners move in and quickly sell — and unfortunately, we are already considering the same. New Castle Homes is not a builder I could recommend to anyone. The situation is truly disappointing and sad.

Newcastle has not demonstrated full transparency regarding the add-on items, as the price list for these items fluctuated from month to month, as we were building. I also requested a specific design feature for my home (brick and cedar) that was denied, yet I later observed the same feature implemented on two other properties on houses that had not been sold to anyone. Because of this, I do not have complete confidence in the consistency of their representations. Additionally, the irregular concrete at the entrance of my driveway has not yet been addressed. I have been informed that the neighborhood roads will eventually be repaved, at which time this issue will supposedly be corrected. I am also still waiting for a water sewer cap on the sidewalk to be replaced, which currently poses a significant trip hazard. Although I purchased a larger lot, the land was not properly leveled, resulting in a substantial ditch at the back of the property. Newcastle declined to correct this, requiring me to resolve an issue that should have been addressed from the outset. For these reasons, I would not recommend Newcastle to first-time homebuyers. The process requires vigilant oversight to catch errors, including careless contractor practices such as the use of poor-quality wood and improperly placed nails that fail to connect to structural elements. Lastly, a large opening in the master bathroom, concealed beneath the bathtub, would have left the home vulnerable to animals entering from the outside had I not personally identified and addressed it.

We find the quality of the home very good but were disappointed with certain aspects of the contract negotiation process.

Scheduling repairs has been a constant struggle. We still have an open work order for the fence with no resolution. It is very disappointing. I don't have much to like about our experience.

The house itself is good, have not resolved the issue with my backyard, sprinkler systems, or electrical issues. Also, I am curious as to when the streets will be paved since the construction is through.

I have enjoyed my new home and with the work of Karen at the Warranty email address and Nick as my builder I cannot say enough about how Newcastle takes care of their home owners.

Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.
