Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers
McKinney, TX, on Nov 24, 2024
The built quality was poor. As a builder there were lots of mistakes and refusal to fix them. There were lots of poor craftsmanship. The sales process was full of lies and false information. The asking for the house was over a $100,000 more than the market value. There were shortcuts and square footage cuts. Overall very disappointing and frustrated. This will be shared on other media outlets.

Overall warranty experience was great, however there were several issues that were "take it or leave it". One of the most frustrating experiences were canned lights: they are installed throughout the house, they cannot be upgraded to have a more powerful "bulb" (you get std LEDs), they are installed poorly (not flashed and tight with the ceiling, there are spaces where bugs get in and are visible inside the lights) - and there is nothing Normandy can do. Replacing them - even in one room - was about $1700.

We like the commitment to meet deadlines and meeting the customer satisfaction. Being the first home for us, we are still not getting a grasp of the warranty requests

Good experience to allow customers provide real world feedbacks after moved in.

The design center appointment was poorly executed and not communicated well. I was rushed through the appointment to make selections only to be done early. Availability of options and the agent communication wasn’t upto mark while we were on the wait list. Lastly we wanted to pay for higher upgrades but they were told not to be available only to find out our neighbors have them now.

Response time from warranty service was reasonable. However, there's a consistent tendency to blame external factors rather than Normandy for poor quality of the home. This is particularly evident in the ongoing light flickering issue. As an experienced RE investor, this isn't my first purchase, nor will it be my last. Based on this experience, I've decided against buying [name removed] or any affiliated homes in the future.

Sales person [name removed] at Estate of [name removed] crossings was my sales person. [name removed] was very friendly, explained the selling process, explained all of the standard features with the house, was very communicative, timely updates, very accomodative and engaged with me all through initial contract up until closing. [name removed] was very responsive and supportive through every customer touch point in buying and closing the house.

I like the overall craftsmanship, quality and timing were excellent, would love to have more options like extending the fence, modern kitchen, better fans and lights.

Like: Normandy keeps the commitments on build materials, build quality and delivery schedule. Dislike: Minor build quality issues found, missing parts,..after communication, it have been fixed.

The communication was on point and both the salesman and the builder were very helpful throughout the whole process.

[name removed] has been patient, understanding, professional, and an able communicator. He ensured we were on track all throughout our build process. It has been our pleasure to meet him and we would highly recommend his professional services to everyone who wishes to purchase a home with Normandy. We highly appreciate if he gets a chance to go up the hierarchy in the near future. On the other hand, the communication from the Builder CB Jeni/ Normandy by [name removed], Director of Accounting Operations was extremely bad with us. The builder's representative [name removed]'s behavior was unprofessional, with no standardization or protocol in place regarding prompt communication to the homeowner, thus creating mental anguish and stress at the last minute. All she said was sorry! Excuse us, but this is not what we expected from Normandy Homes! Our experience with [name removed] has been no less unprofessional. [name removed] the receptionist first blamed our Lender that he changed the closing date. It felt as if she had no slightest of an idea of what was happening. She did not have the courtesy to call us back when she said she would to let us know what was happening on closing that day. we had to call her twice before we met her on the phone and later in office. In reality the lender was ready to close well within time with accuracy on date and time of closing as well. Normandy provided us dead trees right even before closing. on the closing day, despiet having pointed that out to [name removed], he kept convincing us that the trees are alive and have life within deep inside. It sounded so ridiculous. It took 1 month warranty orientation , for the builder's representative to confirm that the tree was dead, until date there has been no replacement or communication from the builder on replacing the trees, so much for professionalism. The dirt leveling/grading has been made so uneven, that one might hurt themselves while walking through. Id Normandy going to take responsibility for this? In short, where we expected a great product with Normandy Homes known, but our experience is far from even average. it is dismal!

A few issues noted were reported but even after multiple reports, they have not been fixed yet. Hopefully it will be addressed in the next week or so.

We liked the way how sales manager handled the entire process by making things clear, providing updates, all other information needed, being very responsive, and answering all our questions on time. We also liked the way how title company handled the closing of the house. And one thing we are not that satisfied is the builder not responding to our texts or emails anytime we had a question or needed information.

The purchase experience with Normandy was not that happy thing from first, I would like to refer below with my experience, 1. Pre-selliing : The pre-selling started on Thursday 6/22 from 1:30 – 4:30 and my appointment was at 1:30pm and when I arrived the sales person informed already 3 sales was done and cannot do anything anymore for JUNE month. I was waiting for this community more than 8+ months and again multiple times I contacted the sales person and then there were no appointment given for me to meet next to buy the same and the ask in person was are you ready to pay 30+K for plan and lot with additonal for next month and continuously texting to get one. Here I felt customers are not valued from the builder end where considered low as you get another if one person goes. 2. Completion walk through : After signing the contract and pre-drywall/design meetings were going on, here the designer/sales person did not inform the kitchen package won't be able to build with 'flip tray' in sink if you go with high end sink. While scheduled to go for first walk through, we noticed multiple design changes were missed and 2-3 days prior we informed. Here as per your contract, the customer should not 'interrupt' the construction manager/sales person with many details saying, the complaints. I followed the same and the kitchen design with cabbintes and flip tray was missed. Later they refunded the cabbinets design and did not agree for flip tray even though it was paid part of kitchen package. These should be avoided. Here the customer situation was if you dont want to get the home, builder was ready to sell it with 100K more to others, which was the 'comment' got from another sales person in the community and we need to keep quite to move forward as we love to get the home, we decided to purchase. 3. Closing : Closing was moved 2nd time due to inspection issues and second walk through was kept on the same day as CLOSING, which was given more pressure to the customer to review everything on the same day and many missed to review properly. This was communicated earlier to sales person to arrange a day before and we did not get support. After moved in, I had to raise multiple warranty issues, which was not even closed from 1st walk through, 2nd walk through though. Even though, we went through these situations, we value the quality of the NORMANDY home compared with others we value and understand sometimes to get the dream home, we may need to go through these.

Like: Home was closed well ahead of time, weekly updates provided by our Salesperson [name removed] and proper planned walkthrough as per schedule Dislike: Most walls windows, floors are not at the same level. caulking were not done completely around the floor and wall connections. the answer to most of these were that's how they are built, so little unhappy about this
