We pointed out issues and defects throughout the building process, and we were essentially pushed to the warranty department. We were given incorrect information multiple times on items tht we were told would be covered, then they backed out and said they weren't after we had already purchased them. Within two weeks the manager had already stopped in to visit us to "explain" a situation, which really came across the wrong way. He discussed how great it was that things were cookie cutter and you can't customize, and told us all the issues we found and communicated really were just what the warranty was for. He tried to pass the issues off on our salesperson, but he admitted to not having a walkthrough and then not going back to fix things once you hit the initial orientation. If we had not shown up the day of closing to push issues, we would have closed on a house with cracks and holes along the entire foundation of our house, which we pointed out for over a month and nothing had been done to fix it. [name removed] was left through out the house on outlets. caulking and sealing weren't completed in the bathrooms and on every door, tiles aren't properly laid and the grout is already washing away after 1 month. Oultets were put on slanted and crooked, and out front door knob broke within the first two weeks with minimal usage. We have already had to tighten the garage door entry way as well. INothing we pointed out in our walkthrough and private inspection was corrected. We were later told the walk through wasn't acctually a walk throug but an orientation, so anything we pointed out was supposed to already be done. We left so many stickers the lady had to go back to the car to get more.

Warranty service is horrible. First initial warranty for one of the issues took forever for them to come out and actually fix the issue even though they came out numerous times but said the issue was another issue which was incorrect. Then this second time I’m still waiting on my garage to be fixed of which in order to even get someone out I had to go to a sales rep at a model home and then a couple days later to the main shop office. A part had to be ordered for it and we’re supposed to be back here today to fix it but I had to call to see what is going on and part still has not come in. A simple curtesy call stating so would’ve been awesome as far as customer service. Also, team lead for the maintenance or building of desert view is horrible everytime trys to say it is my fault the home owner/ customer even though it’s flaws of the build or as in the garage door I have actual video footage on my security cameras showing that it just abruptly broke and was working fine everyday until the day it just broke. But he still made statements and suggestions as if it were my fault. [name removed] your best representative by any means. Also, for the first warranty claim I had he insisted the floor wasn’t the boards pulling up even though he sent a carpet company out and they said it’s not the carpet it’s the board. And he said I normally don’t do this but I’ll fix it this time. I told him no this is a warranty issue and you will fix it right. I also told him as he apologized to me that if he were to just do the job right from the start all these issues would be avoided. The final product is not great. Mediocre work done. Have had several “warranty claims” for work that wasn’t done properly to begin with. Irrigation system gave out second month living here and no longer covered after the first 30 days of closing. Shortly after, garage door stopped working properly and bent. Warranty request for that was sent and told company wasn’t going to repair it even though we were using the remote garage openers given to us at closing. Come to find out, several neighbors on our block had the same problem. Bad work installing if I had to guess. Getting anybody to call back much less come to the home to repair anything takes forever and constant follow up.

The back and forth between Production and Warranty. For more than 12 months we have been told things will get fixed and they will do one thing but to get them to actually finish the project, we have to call again and start the process all over again. It’s ridiculous if I would have known that this would be our situation I would have gone with a different builder. I will not recommend [name removed] [name removed] to anyone. I have been waiting on very simple things to be done- currently we have been waiting for them to paint the part of our house where the stucco was cut out because it was on top of the flashing. Production told me in May 2022 that it would be done in a couple of months. Here we are almost 8 months later and all that it needs is to be painted. It has not been painted. [name removed] from warranty came out the week of December 20th and told us he had to talk to production about completing the project. If desert view cannot do a task that is so simple, I do not trust their word in building houses satisfactorily. It’s ridiculous.

The employees representing DV are superb such as everyone in the warranty department: [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], [name removed] and [name removed]. These individuals are what gives you a good name. I dislike that DV refused to correct and replace a cracked bathroom sink. It showed no impact and was clearly there. A hairline crack does not show itself until dirt collects in it. I have been asking for the cement to be cleaned up from builder material left behind and it has not yet been completed. It is under consideration.

Had to place many work orders for things to be fixed. Microwave didn’t work, the heater in the bed room and living room cannot be used separately without the ecobee restarting over and over, with the house over heating in some rooms as well. Shower was leaking. Tile is lose in the guest room.

I like the thoughtful collection as it is portrayed in a model home. My home is a thoughtful collection home however I would expect that more thought would have gone in the process and delivery of the home as a finished product. I disliked the the way the close process worked it felt rushed, I felt unheard on the details noticed during final walk thru and felt like little or minimal attention was given to our concerns from the walkthrough associate (3 Total Walkthroughs) and our house has issues yet to be resolved. All these issues were discussed prior to closing however lack of acknowledgement by the walkthrough associate and lack of communication to the foreman led to missed fixes.

The floors have a ton of “nail pops” and squeaks. All the carpet would have to be taken up to get to them all. That is too much of a pain in the XXXXX because all of the furniture would have to be taken out of the second floor to accomplish that.

We have indoor faucets that continue to leak and all the guy that came to fix them the first time said was its the water pressure. Whaaat?! I have hardly any pressure on my kitchen sink hot water. They don’t want to change the faucets cause its not just one. I sked them to cover two holes with the outside painted mix and he wouldn’t do it because he didn’t know if it was going to stick to the foam I used to fill a gap that was left where bugs could get into the crawl space. Yet I used it on another place same issue and it worked perfectly he just didn’t want to do it cause it’s in a awkward location. [name removed] to mention after 7 attempts with prewire to get my ring doorbell and hub i was promised including a trip to prewire offices from the other side of the mountain and a failure to deliver as promised my equipment. And all the houses have popouts on the outside faucets wich I am afraid to open for fear they won’t close properly any more; my house have no popouts on any of the outside faucets and that makes them a weak point.

I think they were in a hurry to built the home. The reason is that a lot of issues in our home. Cheap paint, products, shower, floors, unfinished windows like around the windows. Floors sound like a old house and rugs are moving floor place. Master shower floor sound horrible. This is not my first home.

I liked that Leo was very transparent and provided me with updates throughout the process. I liked the experience of customizing my home and the friendly people who work for Dessert View Homes. The only thing I disliked was the amount of time it took for my home to be completed, I understand that many of the reasons were due to COVID and out of the builders control but for a family of 6 waiting almost a year living separately and with family members it was pretty hard. Like I stated I had an amazing experience and loved every minute of it from choosing the lot, customizing the home, and the home orientation. The orientation really provided me with so much information on my home and all the wonderful features.

We enjoyed picking from the variety of options to customize our home. Don't like that it felt as though we had to defend an issue found with the house (the only instance was of the plumbing issue with the sink that did get fixed eventually). But overall good experience.

I liked that whenever I had an an issue with the warranty, it was corrected right away. Very professional. What I DID NOT LIKE was the original faulty construction of the refrigerated air, punctured in the line, and the plumbing in the master bathroom. I would have avoided calling the warranty. Please be careful with initial construction.

Its a beautiful home and we are enjoying it. Love the floor plan. Rooms are good size and has a spacious laundry room. Home is built in a good location. Great customer service and friendly people to work with! We dislike that I informed Desert View homes on more than one occasion that our microwave and kitchen vent is not installed properly and blowing cold air into the house. Desert View homes insisted that this is the design of it, and would keep an eye on it. Nothing has been done about it as of today. The fact of the matter is, its a very poor design, it should not let cold air into our home during the colder months. Therefore I am only giving a rating of 8 instead of a 10 on this survey.

My window screens were not all placed upon closing, I did not notice this until after a month and was told that it was no longer covered in warranty. Additionally, roof had a leak with first rain of season, it was fixed promptly. One of windows interior panel broke, likely settlement. Otherwise good overall.

What did I like? Desert View's Sales Specialist, Eva Guzman, made all the difference in my experience purchasing my home. She is a shining star and an exemplar for Desert View. Ms. Guzman thoroughly supported me at every turn during the 11-month process to build my home and always provided me with the best customer service. She is a very patient, supportive professional as she was always available to answer all questions - and I had many questions along the way! I cannot say enough good things about Eva Guzman. She is most definitely an asset to Desert View. I will always feel indebted to her. I also greatly appreciated Hortensia Gallegos's expertise and patience with my family and I as we completed our Color Selection for the home. The Superintendent Mr. Eleazar and the painter, Ruben, were very professional and helpful as well. Jessica and Monica in warranty are friendly, helpful and great at checking in with me and following through. What did I dislike? When looking at which home to build, DV suggested I visit the Lindale and look at the 360 on their website as they did not have a Justin to walk. This is what I did and what I based my decision on. I disliked contracting a home (The Justin) and finding out mid-way through construction that a structural change had been made without my knowledge. This structural change was from a full-size dining room operable window to a much smaller fixed window. This was not accurately reflected in the Justin on Desert View's provided 360 view tour nor was it properly represented in the Lindale model. This was never shown or disclosed to me or to Ms. Guzman. This misrepresentation is still available for customers on DV's website as it has been for over two years. This is not acceptable and not in line with DV commitments or claims as a BBB member. I sent an email to Rocky Dailey and management team at DV on 5/27/2021 requesting this structural change not be made without my consent. They did not care or see the customer's view point and installed the small window anyway. IF not for the amazing customer service provided by Eva Guzman, I would not have followed through with this purchase as I would have rather broken my contract. Ms. Guzman ensured for you that the DV building experience ended well.

It was an $1800 upgrade. We requested a refund on the items that have not been installed [name removed] were denied that option. I had to drive to the other side of town to pick up our doorbell and have no idea when if ever the wink hub will be available.

Time lines were not kept, lack of pride from the contractors, house was always dirty and unkept. Issues that were pointed out were not fixed until it was too late or more work had to be done to fix the issue, when it was a simple fix when pointed out. Workers had no pride in what they did and took many shortcuts to meet the bare minimum, food was always left laying around, often times smeared on walls. It did not appear that the contractors or the supervisors cared about their work, they just aimed to simply get it done and move on to the next house.

Yet I used it on another place same issue and it worked perfectly he just didn’t want to do it cause it’s in a awkward location. [name removed] to mention after 7 attempts with prewire to get my ring doorbell and hub i was promised including a trip to prewire offices from the other side of the mountain and a failure to deliver as promised my equipment. And all the houses have popouts on the outside faucets wich I am afraid to open for fear they won’t close properly any more; my house have no popouts on any of the outside faucets and that makes them a weak point.

I liked that whenever I had an an issue with the warranty, it was corrected right away. Very professional. What I DID NOT LIKE was the original faulty construction of the refrigerated air, punctured in the line, and the plumbing in the master bathroom. I would have avoided calling the warranty. Please be careful with initial construction.

My window screens were not all placed upon closing, I did not notice this until after a month and was told that it was no longer covered in warranty. Additionally, roof had a leak with first rain of season, it was fixed promptly. One of windows interior panel broke, likely settlement. Otherwise good overall.

Overall, [name removed] and [name removed] have been very helpful. I am not satisfied with the fact that we have lived here for 5 months and still do not have all of our smart home equipment. It was an $1800 upgrade. We requested a refund on the items that have not been installed [name removed] were denied that option. I had to drive to the other side of town to pick up our doorbell and have no idea when if ever the wink hub will be available.

Customer service has not been always very responsive. For an inquiry, I was called once and missed it, there was never a follow up. Some of the materials used around the house look a bit worn out.

The final product is not great. Mediocre work done. Have had several “warranty claims” for work that wasn’t done properly to begin with. Irrigation system gave out second month living here and no longer covered after the first 30 days of closing. Shortly after, garage door stopped working properly and bent. Warranty request for that was sent and told company wasn’t going to repair it even though we were using the remote garage openers given to us at closing. Come to find out, several neighbors on our block had the same problem. Bad work installing if I had to guess. Getting anybody to call back much less come to the home to repair anything takes forever and constant follow up.

The back and forth between Production and Warranty. For more than 12 months we have been told things will get fixed and they will do one thing but to get them to actually finish the project, we have to call again and start the process all over again. It’s ridiculous if I would have known that this would be our situation I would have gone with a different builder. I will not recommend [name removed] [name removed] to anyone. I have been waiting on very simple things to be done- currently we have been waiting for them to paint the part of our house where the stucco was cut out because it was on top of the flashing. Production told me in May 2022 that it would be done in a couple of months. Here we are almost 8 months later and all that it needs is to be painted. It has not been painted. [name removed] from warranty came out the week of December 20th and told us he had to talk to production about completing the project. If desert view cannot do a task that is so simple, I do not trust their word in building houses satisfactorily. It’s ridiculous.

The employees representing DV are superb such as everyone in the warranty department: [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], [name removed] and [name removed]. These individuals are what gives you a good name. I dislike that DV refused to correct and replace a cracked bathroom sink. It showed no impact and was clearly there. A hairline crack does not show itself until dirt collects in it. I have been asking for the cement to be cleaned up from builder material left behind and it has not yet been completed. It is under consideration.

The floors have a ton of “nail pops” and squeaks. All the carpet would have to be taken up to get to them all. That is too much of a pain in the XXXXX because all of the furniture would have to be taken out of the second floor to accomplish that.

I think they were in a hurry to built the home. The reason is that a lot of issues in our home. Cheap paint, products, shower, floors, unfinished windows like around the windows. Floors sound like a old house and rugs are moving floor place. Master shower floor sound horrible. This is not my first home.

Its a beautiful home and we are enjoying it. Love the floor plan. Rooms are good size and has a spacious laundry room. Home is built in a good location. Great customer service and friendly people to work with! We dislike that I informed Desert View homes on more than one occasion that our microwave and kitchen vent is not installed properly and blowing cold air into the house. Desert View homes insisted that this is the design of it, and would keep an eye on it. Nothing has been done about it as of today. The fact of the matter is, its a very poor design, it should not let cold air into our home during the colder months. Therefore I am only giving a rating of 8 instead of a 10 on this survey.
