Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers

El Paso, TX, on Nov 18, 2024

We pointed out issues and defects throughout the building process, and we were essentially pushed to the warranty department. We were given incorrect information multiple times on items tht we were told would be covered, then they backed out and said they weren't after we had already purchased them. Within two weeks the manager had already stopped in to visit us to "explain" a situation, which really came across the wrong way. He discussed how great it was that things were cookie cutter and you can't customize, and told us all the issues we found and communicated really were just what the warranty was for. He tried to pass the issues off on our salesperson, but he admitted to not having a walkthrough and then not going back to fix things once you hit the initial orientation. If we had not shown up the day of closing to push issues, we would have closed on a house with cracks and holes along the entire foundation of our house, which we pointed out for over a month and nothing had been done to fix it. [name removed] was left through out the house on outlets. caulking and sealing weren't completed in the bathrooms and on every door, tiles aren't properly laid and the grout is already washing away after 1 month. Oultets were put on slanted and crooked, and out front door knob broke within the first two weeks with minimal usage. We have already had to tighten the garage door entry way as well. INothing we pointed out in our walkthrough and private inspection was corrected. We were later told the walk through wasn't acctually a walk throug but an orientation, so anything we pointed out was supposed to already be done. We left so many stickers the lady had to go back to the car to get more.

Before I moved into this home I had an inspection done and asked them to to fix the things on the inspection list, however they did not fix thing I couldn’t really get to like the roof, there was a cap on there that wasn’t sealed properly and because they decided to not fix it, we got a leak. Also poor craftsmanship when a towel holder falls off the wall.

[Translated from ES] The disposition, times and above all that they left me every detail as I asked.

What was shown in the model home, this was cabinets in the master bedroom that were changed without notice to us. Documents were sent to sign with no explanation of what was being signed. We had to initiate contact for explanation of these docs. This would not have been an issue if purchased of a home before, but this was our first home.

Some of the initial flaws were corrected. We have a list we will be submitting of the items that have not been corrected, but it's not very long. For example, the peephole in the front door is not aligned to the actual hole made for it on the door. so there is a little gap around it. The water spout in the backyard has very little water pressure (a small stream of water is all that will come out). The dishwasher moves around within the space its in. It's not held down.

The representative I worked with did not communicate with me throughout the build process to let me know the progress level of the build

There is too much red tape, and if the technology does not work, new professionals will not be able to function. I can buy myself a Porche with less paperwork and fine print. Besides, I am a bit disappointed with HOA because there are no mailboxes available, and the residents have to drive 6 to 10 miles to get their mail; the pool is open but is not, and I cannot take my grandchildren to the playground (I have to go to the rented area to let my grandchildren enjoy a playground, the pool has a playground but it is closed), no sweep the streets, no food trucks during the weekends, and they want us to pay the HOA. Also, this constitutes a breach of contract with a written commitment service that wants financial support without delivering. But overall, it was ok.

I liked how quickly the loan process went, i disliked how the initial orientation when we looked at the house was too fast and no real defects could be seen until after the orientation
