Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers

Initially the timeline was 3 months early. Then they told me it would be done because they needed to finish by the end of the month so they wouldn't have any additional fees and rushed the job and still didn't have it done in time. There was a lot of work that needed to be redone because of the rush and the poor quality of work
El Paso, on Sep 12, 2024
Terrible cabinet work, cabinets falling off within 6 months. Poor workmanship all over the home very noticeable from a glance. Reported issues and had multiple cancelled appointments day of before someone finally came for repair. Reported issues again and was told I would receive call back at 7 month mark, never called back

Poor customer service from the warranty department. Delay in service to fix builder issues, including leak in the wall, causing 3 appointments to fix 1 issue. No flexibility for appointment times which causes inconvenience and time off work. The person calling to make the appointment is rude and lacks empathy.

Desert view was very helpful through the process of purchasing my home. [name removed] and [name removed] were amazing to work with
El Paso, on Aug 29, 2024
Since we moved in, there have been several issues with the home, such as appliances not working correctly, like the garbage disposal, bedroom doors not closing properly, and plumbing issues with shower drains being clotted due to garbage blockage from when the home was built. The plumber came and took plastic bags from the main bedroom drain. My wife submitted this issue to the warranty department and was told they couldn't help us because it was a plumbing issue. It eventually got resolved but took a while to fix. The customer service has been horrible, and the only response we get is "We are sorry," "We were not aware of the situation," or "It was not communicated to us. Therefore, we did not know someone out,"...etc. Etc... I am very disappointed with Desert View and now I regret purchasing a home with them.

I felt that our closing was not handled with customer service in mind. I made multiple attempts to schedule our closing for the Monday following the Friday that it actually closed. I had to work the week of the closing and I made this clear weeks in advance. I am an RN and I worked in a very busy unit the week of the closing. I had to rush across town to make the closing time appointment. The individual who handled our closing was 30 minutes late to top it off. I do not understand the disconnect between Desert [name removed] and the understanding that we could have spent our $331,000 with any other builder. It didn’t matter and we were not important enough as the customer to help us with out closing date for the Monday that I requested. There was absolutely zero meeting us in the middle and letting us close on the Monday. We felt like a number and not a customer. We also were scheduled to close initially the end of June or first part of July. The closing date was moved up over a month early without our agreement. We had a lot of trouble with our prior rental due to getting out earlier than the date I had given prior. I honestly was so frustrated that Desert [name removed] refused to work with us in the closing I almost went with another builder. If my wife wasn’t in love with house already I would’ve gone to a different builder. That is how unhappy I was with the process. The only good experience I had was with [name removed] and he was fantastic and my [name removed] officer [name removed]. She was great also. The process should have been a great experience but the closing left me very disappointed.

That the city of El Paso wants to give me a fine for the Construction mess behind the ponding area. Which I have until 5/17/2024 to clean up the mess. The dying plants in the front yard, Contractors painters leaving a mess using the water outside my home which it lead to discoloration of the rocks. Some of your employees are rude to deal with.

I like their timely and affordable construction of the house. However, they are very limited in terms of customization.

Very poor quality work on home. Looks rushed and needs a lot of repairs already
El Paso, on Jun 02, 2020
We really fall in love with the floor plan since day one, i would love to have more lot options and more customization options. Employees are really courteous
El Paso, TX, on Dec 24, 2023
They were professional and very helpful when asking questions.
El Paso, on Mar 23, 2024
Responsive, but it takes a long time to get things fixed. Shower drain remained clogged for over a month before somebody showed up to fix it and then it got clogged again shortly thereafter.
El Paso, on May 25, 2020
I don't, Desert View Homes has yet to come fix items that were suppose to be fixed within the first 30-90 days. We submitted our list over 7 times and agents promise to come out and fix the problems, but never show up.
El Paso, TX, on Nov 23, 2023
[name removed] was great, responded quickly and answered any doubts. Was always honest with time frames and went above and beyond to try to change selections which had already been selected from the office.
El Paso, on Aug 21, 2020
I liked the emergency services. However, the scheduled warranty services can be improved. The schedule has to be made twice as the concerned contractors failed to come on their first appointment. The warranty repairs done during the first visit is still back to the original issue.

Selling agent did not know the product being sold. could not answer questions or answered incorrectly. Was asked for assistance with things and did not deliver. [name removed] in main office was amazing and wonderful at helping fix issues our selling agent would not. Delayed closing 3 separate \times with no notice and no communication between lender and Desert View. Used preferred lender and they were AWFUL through entire process. had to do multiple final walk throughs because house was still incomplete at each viewing. Warrantee management was excellent with service but initial work on grout and walls was very sloppy. a lot of repairs and touch ups needed.
El Paso, TX, on Oct 30, 2023
The desert view staff didn’t appear to be on the same page. It really made the purchasing process even more difficult than it should have been. Walk-through representative was late to both our meetings. Just overall making our home buying experience not pleasant. Too many desert view staff members apologizing over and over. Overall home buying experience was just not good. But we finally got the house. Thankfully.
El Paso, TX, on Aug 30, 2023
The clarity of when the house would be ready wasn’t always there. I know that’s common with new construction, but I didn’t know the exact date until a month or so before move in.
El Paso, TX, on Aug 02, 2023
[name removed] was great! Very attentive and responsive. The only feedback that I can give was contractors cut corners but DV team has been good to work with.....
