Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers

The process was well organized as it pertains to the home characteristics and functions. The walk throughs resulted in appropriate and necessary fixes and were satisfactorily resolved prior to closing. The mortgage approval process was generally satisfactory, though the self-employed status imposed additional confirmations that appeared to be unnecessarily duplicative, recognizing that this imposition is an underwriting feature, but it doesn't alter the frustration involved. So, that segment was not enjoyable, though, on balance the closing process occurred in a timely basis and with no significant delay. The clean up of the house and overall presentation of the property upon transfer of ownership showed care and attention to detail.

I have liked the follow up and follow through with requested actions and repairs. To date I haven't anything to dislike. There will be a few more requests between now and the end of the warranty period, but I really expect that issues will be resolved in due course.
El Paso, on Feb 06, 2024
To date the responsiveness to warranty or warranty related matters has been efficient and timely. At times getting access to report the list of items is a bit more involved than preferred, but overall, the access and responsiveness have been very good.

This company does not take pride in the quality of work. We had so many headaches with the completion of our home. Work constantly had to get re done because they did a piss poor job. [name removed] only that but they took over a year and a half to build our home. They kept pushing back the completion date numerous times. I would not recommend this home builder to my family or friends.

First, I will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Secondly, we waited 14 months from bank approval to closing because of delay after delay. I understand that the pandemic hurt businesses, and now, your neglect adds insult to patience. Thirdly, I cannot count on you fulfilling the warranty. I was promised at closing that the sprinkler caps would be installed, and two months later, nothing. The garbage disposal trips the gif and stops. We cannot use it. The dishwasher has a severe leak.Today, September 29, after scheduling a technician to come, he came, and he conducted a "walk-through". He had the nerve to tell my daughter that the owners had to be at home for the visit. Consider your practice, that [name removed] [name removed] did not complete the work and improperly installed two appliances, and we have to miss work. If you want us here, send the tech after our work day! I have informed [name removed] that your employees or contractors behave poorly because no one is supervising them. The workers on the house next door dump stucco residue on our landscaping without concern for our property. The same workers had the truck stuck in loose dirt and gravel on another house. They thought it quite haralious spinning their tires while dirt and gravel flew on to the house and windows of the house being completed. If you are not fulfilling your warranty commitment, why offer a warranty? I'm sure that in your costing structure, we are paying for the warranty. So the way I see it, you accepted money and did not deliver the service. Frankly, I expect this survey to be filed in your archives without any attention or concerns. We "heard" that DV was a reputable company. I was lied to! I have been patient. You lost my respect, and I will make sure I tell everyone how dissatisfied I am. [name removed] only will I not recommend DV homes, I will show them photos of broken contractual agreements.

The house was not finished completely upon sign on. They had agreed to fix a lot of the things that were pointed out and it almost took one month before it was all completed. We had to remind dessert view multiple times to fix those things. For a house in that price range other companies are much better organized. The dessert view workers are responsive and very nice but the company not the best

I had requested that Vent in the Masters bathroom to be straightened out because it’s crooked. Person that came said he can just balance the airflow coming out of the vents but he can’t do the straightening of the vent. I also requested repainting of some corners in living/dining/ Masters bath wall because they were not even. They were repainted but the paint didn’t match. I also requested the repair of the dent on the front right outside of the garage and straighten the bent metal on the inside top right. Up to now, it’s not done. This was noted by Mr. [name removed] when he came to check on my house way back after I closed on the house.

most issues are related to interior/exterior issues like no door bell installed, walls and floor finishes, missing roof/facade piece to mention some.

I loved everything about Desert View Homes! There were ups-and-downs during the whole process but it is just the nature of the business. Every encounter I had with anyone related to the builder was nothing but great. I will definitely recommend DVH
El Paso, TX, on Aug 15, 2021
Disliked: communication- -weekly updates were inconsistent -notified of wrong floor plan, missing items/upgrades, etc and house was built for another month with wrong items put in place Quality- Some items marked at second walkthrough stickers were removed and not fixed -door would not shut, windows wouldn’t open etc That should have been checked -workers got silicone on carpet because they were doing work and not being careful -items fixed after move in however paint, caulk, removed plaster was not cleaned up after repairs -leaking window still not fixed even with rain had to put duct tape over exterior to prevent leaking, came to fix and still waiting because they are doing another job - dead plants that have never been replaced that were supposed to be done after signing as it was brought up on red tape walkthrough. Positives - very beautiful home - concerns during framing were addressed, materials and spacing as well as wood used was sprayed to to milder concerns - when updates were given they were informative and gave insight on what was going on with build process or questions - some items such as paint or damage to walls has been completed but over multiple appts - contractor for blinds did quick and quality work - design center was helpful with samples of items used in other houses etc to help make decisions during color selection - with certain issues with the house toy was informative and helped with issues on the house

No major issues. [name removed] was very good to work with as well as [name removed], the construction superintendent.
El Paso, TX, on Jun 08, 2021
Closing was forced on me even though the house was not ready at all during closing. Up to now after closing on April 30, 2021, there are still a lot of stuff that needed to be done and promised to be done at closing and are still not done. [name removed] promised me 2 weeks before closing that all I verbalized to him will be done, I closed already and he kept on promising that they will be done and are still not done up to now. I mentioned to him that the rock wall and the black metal fence on the left side of the house have cement on top of the rock wall and the metal, cement are still there. Front entry has paint on the outside flooring and up to now they are still there. The kitchen sink had scratches in it. It looks like they used the sink to rinse their paint brushes, so to remove those paint, they scrubbed it real hard that it scratched the metal hard. I had also noticed that the overall quality of work was not good. Some of the corner moldings and the HVAC vent were crooked. The baseboard moldings were painted with uneven surface, after repainting they were still like droplets of paint (uneven) all over the house. It really does not matter whether you’re buying a $320,000 or a $180,000 home, the quality of work should be the same. I recommended [name removed] [name removed] to my colleague but after seeing the quality of work, she backed out. If I invite my doctor/nurses/friends to my house, how could I recommend [name removed] [name removed] when they can with their own eyes the poor quality of work.
