Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers

Willis, on Feb 08, 2023

I have 8 warranty requests that have been ignored for 4 months. My warranty guy has stopped responding and has done nothing to fix the issues in our home. I have had tape on my floors for over 4 months due to him “walking” the flooring and then never following up. I have contacted him repeatedly since asking about the repairs. Legend Homes warranty is a joke. No one follows up to make sure requests are being completed. Mailbox is full so I can’t even try to speak to someone in management to get our repairs complete. I would never recommend anyone to buy a Legend Home after this awful experience.

The contract point of view was great and very clear. Move in experience was good though I wasn’t satisfied with the size of the kitchen “too small”. Quality is great.

The warranty repairs process is the worst. No communication what so ever. No viable phone numbers to call or leave messages on. We currently have about 6 requests in, many are 3-4 months old and cannot get anyone to communicate with us on status. I know this will not go anywhere and no one will even contact us, but a phone call to update would be wonderful.

The build was delayed. There were open permits on the house. The floors upstairs are uneven, bowed, and need reworked. The vinyl floors downstairs have concrete swirls and had to be replaced. The dishwasher water line was kinked, and no dishwasher for 30 days. Stove was dropped on a corner, and the oven was diamonded. It took until after the holidays to replace it. We closed in August. The door to the garage is not fire rated. The swales in the backyard don’t move water away from the house like they are supposed to. There wasn’t enough insulation in the attic. The vent from the furnace thru the roof was not sealed. It was a Water leak area. Exhaust fans in the house had to be replace. Concrete entrance had to be reworked. A/C concrete pad is not level. A/C unit needs to be moved and concrete removed and repoured. Garage door has jumped off of track x 2 & door had to be put back on track. The house was not move in ready. Tile & grouting had to be cleaned. Garden tub drain was cracked & had to be repaired. Hallway bathtub was chipped and had to be repaired. Grout missing under shelf in hall shower. Toilet in hallway not anchored and seat was replaced. Water leak in front of house from master bath tub drain plumbing. Doors not properly sealed. It took forever to get trades people out. I have worked with Alp for the first 30 days. I worked with Juan, James, & now Luis for legend Home Warranty. The process is very tedious, & I had to submit numerous requests, because my tickets were closed before all items were completed. I did not get copies of my warranty requests to my email for cross referencing. The trades people predominantly speak Spanish, and I don’t. It makes it very difficult to communicate with them about the work. I have watched young children working on new construction across the street from my home. It makes me wonder if this is how my house was built. I won’t buy another legend home, and I won’t recommend Legend Homes. I am on the South Meadows FB page. There are many of us with the same problems. Micah was the builder. He was out with Covid prior to our close. When we had our walkthroughs we had 2 different people that we never saw again. I don’t think we received a certificate of occupancy. Never again. Legend homes XXXXX .

There was no job over site, poor workmanship, poor management and follow-up of work being performed. This was a terrible experience starting the day we signed the contract. When there were issues with the build the salesman would blame the contractor and the contractor would blame the salesman. This was the worst build I've seem. We are disappointed we thought Legend Homes built quality homes, not true. Poor management from top down.

Most of the items listed on the inspection report were not corrected, even though we were told they would all be addressed. We feel like we were taken advantage of because of our situation, as we were in California during the purchasing and repair portion of the process, and had to take the word of the builder that things were done. Very disappointed in the lack of professionalism and communication, even to this day with contractors continuously blocking the road, making it difficult to leave or return home at times.

The yard was not level before grass was installed...causing me to fall. This was brought up at 3 times prior to move in. Move in came and the yard was still not level. Not having the ability to 'pick' colors prior to interior work being started. Little things missing from the house; like no medicine cabinets; which you normally don't think to look for.

Lack of quality control. Though my wife and I agree that it could have been worse. The HOA web has a chat group which batters the build very much, so we could have been in one of those deals. We have misaligned walls and ceiling. The faux wood tiling in the bathrooms is not adhering very well to the glue/adhesive which was used. It is very disappointing to watch the future homes being built up but yet they will sit for weeks and months to absorb the weather (read- moisture). The landscaping being done needs to be addressed. The list goes on and on.

I felt the builders were EXTREMELY SLOPPY. I have found trash underneath my grass, cut off peices of rebarb in my grass which snagged my lawn mower, the grass was laid down and then destroyed in areas during construction, the lawn has gaps as a result. During walk through many spots were taped and few spots were fixed. We had to remark same areas of which needed paint touch up and putty fixed, and the cast iron plate which came with our stove was missing when we moved in. We saw it during the building process but was likely stolen by one of the workers during the process. Appliances are cheap, and we're poorly installed. Granite counter top was cut crooked and covered with caulking and the mud they use for tile. Many things I was highly disappointed in.

I disliked the fact yes it was a inventory home but before things were done we wanted to have the house a different color before it was painted but the contractor said they could not do it unless we paid a big chunk to get it painted differently. The refrigerator should of been place on the other side of the kitchen (not next to the garage door).
