Purchase Experience Testimonials from Real Homebuyers

Broomfield, CO, on Apr 07, 2023

The purchase experience itself was fine - Kyle was a great communicator. We had numerous delays and ended up moving in 5-6 months later than originally estimated, which was frustrating. We are still missing key items we paid for like a fridge, wine fridge, light rail on our cabinets, etc.. There are several items that should have been fixed before we moved in that are still outstanding (broken windows, etc.).

I have liked the help I've received on multiple warranty issues, and Marc was always responsive to issues that remained unresolved. I dislike how long the warranty process took for our 30-day move-in warranty, as we're almost 6 months in and just finished our 30-day list.

Very slow to respond, replace or repair items that were wrong, broken or missing!

I felt like at the end, there was final push to close on the home just to make the year end sales. I don't like the fact there was a broken window in a bedroom for months and it is still not in. Not sure if it is really a supply chain issue, or they never ordered it.

I feel like before closing they would say it would get done after. It’s been 5 months and items are still not completed. It seems to be a battle to get things done that where items we agreed on before closing.

The quality of the build is sub par for the price point. The material and craftsmanship does not meet out expectations.

Good communication and follow up. Pat, Sean, Kyle, Marc and Kate have all been great to work with. Quick response times and attention to detail. Our experience with Epic has been much better than expected after talking with other friends who have had homes built by other builders and some of their "not so good" results/experiences.

The execution is very slow. I have to keep pushing for things to get fixed even after submitting tickets. There seems to be only one person handling the coordination for whole community.

I was very disappointed with everyone along the way, no one is ever accountable or takes responsibility for anything ever. You charge a premium price for sub-par workmanship on every level

I have emailed MUTIPLE times about setting up a time to finish items on my 45 day punch list and NO ONE RESPONDS. Very dissatisfied with post purchase service. Still missing items that I bought and paid for and NO ONE RESPONDS.

We love our beautiful home! We liked our experience with Kyle, Marc and Sean. Overall we feel like we have a quality home, However, we paid just over $1.4M for our home, and there has been a very long list of items that needed repairs and improvements. Several things have been fixed, but I still have about 4 items left from my 45-day walk through and an item from my walk through at closing. Mind you, we’ve been in our home for 10 months. I have our 11-month walk through with Marc Trinta, and about 10 items for that visit. I feel like the home build was rushed and there was a serious lack of attention to detail. I’m hoping it eventually gets to 100%, but I feel like at this pace, it will be 18 months or more. I feel like Marc is trying, but he’s just one guy and over-loaded with work. Sean too. One call out is the poor quality of windows and screens in the home. We feel the cold in the windows in the winter something terrible. We constantly hear traffic, more than we should. Simply poor quality. Screen tabs continue to break off when we try to remove the screens for cleaning. Dry rot I’m assuming. Once we get through our tick sheet items, we’ll feel good. Thanks.

My wife and I enjoyed being able to communicate with Kyle on a regular basis as the build was happening. We really enjoyed when we were able to move into our new house and refine much of the home to make it ours. Sean has been very pleasant to deal with as well in some of the refinements that we are working on in our house now that we’ve moved in. We were not a big fan of having to keep up with small flaws throughout the entire process to be sure they were handled appropriately. I imagine that’s part of the process but this is the first build we’ve done in nearly 25 years and assume now, this is just a part of the process. Glad we had the opportunity to walk through our house on a weekly basis however. We were referred both to our banker to handle the financing of our home as well as our realtor, Pamela and John Subry. Both were a dream to work with. It’s been a great experience.

Kyle, Sean and team were awesome! The overall experience was very good and we really apricated the responsiveness and engagement of everyone involved. Recognizing the global supply chain challenges, I would offer an opportunity for more proactive engagement when there were known delays in things like appliances, flooring selections, etc. Although we selected our appliances, lighting, etc. more than 10 months prior to close, it seemed like they were not ordered until much later in the build process, thus causing delays and/or the need to reselect items, so this part was frustrating. For the price point of >$2M, some of trades were less impressive. e.g. we were not impressed with paint and trim; missed painting under soffits, many areas of over-spray, trim lines looked awful (our 7 year old could have stayed within the lines better ((smile emoji)).

Kyle was great to work with. Despite having a huge backlog, every interaction we’ve had I felt like his only customer. However, there does appear to be a lack of support and leadership beyond the field staff. There never seemed to be a process for anything and while always a challenge, once Anthem became a close out community with no sales presence communication suffered. It was roughly 17 months from contract to close and I feel it’s critical for both sales and construction to stay engaged with customers throughout the entirety of the process. While there was a handoff at closing from construction to warranty, there wasn’t anything from sales to construction. It was surprising that our first “scheduled” interaction with Pat wasn’t until the predrywall walk and there wasn’t any pre construction meeting. The construction team was great, having them involved in the process sooner would benefit everyone in my opinion.

The overpromising of the ability (in reality lack thereof) to customize the home, particularly through finishes. We were ultimately told that things we wanted were not possible, and yet have heard other neighbors were able to get what we had inquired about.
