[name removed] has been amazing and very responsive. We are still very unsettled about the sidewalks curbs and gutters. I am concerned they will not be satisfactory
Folsom, CA, on Oct 14, 2023
We loved the layout of plan 3 and the options provided to configure the house

I liked working with [name removed]. The final touchups to the house were not well refined. She worked hard to address our concerns. I qualify of upgrades is not satisfactory. The paint chips easily on drawers and not installed correctly.

Your workman's craftsmanship is much less than my expectations. Your drywall guys did not put back a lot of wall insulations back. Wall painting was simply lousy. Many doors were squeeking. I had to pull the pins out and oiled them. Towel and toilet paper holder fell down and needed to be screwed up tight ect. The porch light cover on front of the garage fell down because there was no bolt and nuts holding down. The light bulb went out on us 1 month after we moved in. It was the porch light the cover was not bolted. I'll run out of space if I continue. One good thing is that your manager [name removed] is very diligent and right on top of everything. She is catching up with bigger problems one by one, thank God.

Compared to your competitors , the homes look a class above. The thing that did not go well, compared to the model home, our home had a lot of fit and finish issues (paint quality, grouting quality, mistakes in cabinets etc). It is clear that the finish was rushed through.

All of our concerns were quickly addressed and rectified

There are a few issue that don't seem your team is pushing hard to be solved, they're looking for excuses and siding with contractors. These are the most relevant to me: + Number of zones for the HVAC are insufficient in its design. Two rooms in my single story house can get 7 degrees further from adjacent room. One room was 69 degrees while the next one was 62 degrees. This is an issue for many homeowners of the same model, model 1. + Bathroom exhaust vents consistently leaking when taking hot showers, particularly during cold weather season. + Some of my granite countertops are scratched and/or badly cut. They said I should have noted this during the first walk. It's obvious the issue was there before I moved in, but it's a hassle to try explaining this. + My garage epoxy coating wasn't completed. It was not sealed with the gloss finish, now the decorative flakes are flying around, and is getting too dirty. + I selected framed mirrors, and by mistake they glued the mirrors to the walls using a mastic. When they realized they removed the glued mirrors and replaced them with framed ones, but the mastic was left behind. The most problematic set of mirrors is in my master bathroom, where the mastic was applied on the marble tiles, now those need to be replaced.

The New Home Company is reliable and used quality material to build our home. Also, The Customer Service Staff are very responsive and professional.

Dislike: Low quality construction for the price range. Lack of communication and follow through.

The quality is not good. No proper insulation, paint job and imperfect smooth work is ver very bad. Got our refrigerator after multiple follow ups. Prep kitchen stove is not completely installed yet. Main kitchen stove is not properly installed yet. Water sprinklers does not work all the plants in my front yard are dead. I would not recommend or suggest new home company. After paying so much we expect things to be perfect. Home was never delivered as promised. It got extended by more than 2 months. I had to pay extra money to keep the interest rates. Over all unsatisfied with the construction quality. We pointed multiple issues during walk through and none of them were properly addressed.
Folsom, on Jun 18, 2023
The customer representatives ([name removed] and others) were really bad. We inform them about the issues we are seeing and they always give some reasons to avoid. We were really tired and at the end feel like frustrated to speak them. Very bad experience. We paid 1.5 million dollars on the house and when we bring up the issues that hardly cost around $300 or $400. Bust still they don’t do any fixes. It has to be addressed. I had very high expectations and trust on New Home builders, but they let me down in meeting my needs.

move in has been slow to get an update on open service requests, after months
Folsom, on Jan 15, 2023
We had a lot on our list of things to fix for our 30 days check in and there were a lot of delays and reschedules and cancellations but we understand the circumstances of the times so we were patient. Three month survey we were neutral because less than half on our home fix list was addressed but it took constant follows up. It is now past six months and finally we feel like things are addressed and in the right hands with [name removed]
Folsom, on May 11, 2023
Lot of issues observed . From hvac to basic water heating and possible poor design . All upgrades have issue . Constant follow up over the entire year needed due to issues not being fixed - creating very stressful situation as a customer. On top of that customer service is worst. [name removed] called me names just cause i was explaining and helping the customer service person understand what issue is being faced and need to file a complaint against this person. I will never recommend anyone to buy new home company homes.
Folsom, CA, on Oct 16, 2022
All good except move in issues are not solved yet
Folsom, on Nov 26, 2022
All upgrades have major issues. All these issues are not being fixed. Even standard items have major flaws. Completely, utterly dissatisfied , pick any item/ upgrade or standard ,there is a flaw!
Folsom, on Jul 03, 2022
It has been six months and I still don’t have my oven, my microwave, either of my two dishwashers, my home management doors, and my craft room doors. I paid for them six months ago and they still haven’t been delivered. Your staffing has not satisfactorily addressed these issues. How much longer must I wait?
Folsom, CA, on Oct 16, 2022
Home was incomplete upon move-in and it has been extremely difficult to get things done. There was no attention to detain in the finish work which is sad because that is what we all notice the most.
Folsom, on May 31, 2022
Supposedly there are no qualified workers. 6 months later and work is not done or only partly done. The communication is lacking.
Folsom, CA, on Oct 10, 2022
I want to give great remarks to the people we have encountered to make the home buying experience very pleasurable. The people are [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], and [name removed]. These are the people we call the front line workers representing TNHC. We are very pleased with [name removed] especially. [name removed] has an open transparency, honesty, and care for her buyers beyond any sales agent that we have ever met. Currently we still have many fixes within the home that has not been addressed and [name removed] has graciously tried to reach out to contractors and vendors to help us but it’s very hard to get anything done within a reasonable time with numerous no-shows and cancellations from these contractors has made our process a lot more difficult than we would like to complete our new home. We know everyone is working expeditiously and there’s really no one to blame in the current state that we are in but things such as upgrades on our master bathroom sinks that were not done that we should’ve had from the get go, we are still waiting for the upper management to address.
Folsom, on Dec 27, 2021
The customer service coordinator has been very cooperative and has done his best to address all issues in a timely fashion The house was delivered with many issues and it appears no quality checks were performed and we live with fixing them even after 6 months of closing. the time delay could be covid but it appears the quality of work in the sub contract trade and approvers at the office / hq causing the heartburn
Folsom, CA, on Oct 07, 2022
There are a lot of issues in my home. This is not something that I would expect from a brand-new home. I had a few trades who came in to fix the problems but have made the problem worse. The customer service team ([name removed], [name removed] and [name removed]) have been working hard to help me out but I have a lot of issues that are still open. There are a few things (like the door to the California room, etc) that are not functional since the move in back in Jun 2022. I think I deserve a better buying experience and would really appreciate if someone can take this review seriously and help me with all the issues.

[name removed] has been amazing to work with. He truly makes us feel like we are his only homeowner he is working with. We appreciate all the support he has provided through these difficult times.

Enjoyed our interactions with the sales team ([name removed]/[name removed]), they were always pleasant and responsive. Design studio encounters with [name removed] were hit and miss. She is very engaging, had some good suggestions, and genuinely was eager to help. We were upset not to see pendant lights when we went through our walk thru (we had discussed early in process and relayed that we wanted) but she didn't have them in our plan and we didn't notice. We pointed it out on our first walk thru (framing was up and wires everywhere were exposed) figuring that could be taken care of, but was told electrician had "moved on" to other homes and wasn't coming back?! There was also some back and forth regarding other features and as time went on it appeared she was a bit overwhelmed (somewhat understanding with a lot of delays on products due to COVID?). Felt a bit rushed in December as our move in date was moved a couple times. We did get in 12/23, but found a few things missing, unfinished, and not working properly. Thinking NHC was trying to close sales before year end, and possibly sacrificed a few important details to do so (neighbors around us also sharing similar experiences). Just recently we found out that our recessed ceiling in the main room is not level (crown moulding was not straight) so [name removed] is scheduled to come out at end of month to rip out and fix (a one week costly interruption and inconvenience). Also just finding out all our touch up paint isn't matching. There were numerous white spots that needed to be covered, thinking the problem is only one thin coat was originally applied?? [name removed] was our initial "fix it" guy, but we felt sorry for him as he was obviously way overwhelmed. We now have [name removed], and on his initial encounter he was very detailed and attentive.
Folsom, on Nov 29, 2021
I find the finishing horrible. During construction process we were not allowed to supervise or enter and it’s expected that construction team verify quality and workmanship but neither there seems any process or checklist. We had to suffer a lot when home was closed before time and still it have lots of work remaining. We are not given many options as they were added later and before your internal cut offs but then committed and paid options were not completed and or quality checked. We are really happy with Warranty support but with so many service requests really overwhelmed and although home is closed almost 6 months back but still finding things and pending service requests. It’s seems we have to find faults or issues as no one bothered to verify and certify them which is quite unfair as basic quality checks are all missing before even handover and if we miss before 13 months of closing it’s become our issue and NWHM goes scot free. I haven’t seen any actions taken to do a remedial and through inspection from NWHM on craftsmanship and finishing and whether things are working. For example if I find somewhere paint was not done proper it’s fixed but if we don’t notice it it’s not done. It’s more reactive rather than proactive approach which makes it very annoying and reduces brand value if any for NWHM.

Likes: 1. Salespeople ([name removed] and [name removed]) were very helpful throughout the whole process. 2. [name removed] is very communicative and is trying his best to sort through all of our issues. He is very friendly and professional. Dislikes: 1. Our design selection process was way more stressful that it should have been, in my opinion. Our design person ([name removed]) kept confusing our lot with other lots and we had to keep track of a lot of details on our end to make sure all orders were entered properly. There was also a lack of communication from her. We rarely received communication back in a timely manner and had to call her multiple times to receive a response. This should have been the most exciting part of the process, which became the most frustrating part due to lack of communication and disorganization. 2. There were a lot of items that were not properly installed when we moved in. I believe there is a huge issue with the builder’s quality control process. Our AC wasn’t properly installed, ceiling lights were misaligned, seams were showing on the ceilings…and the list goes on. A lot of these items are very visible and could have been caught before the home was delivered to us. Instead, I believe the builder rushed to close on our home because it was the end of the year. 3. More than 3 months after we have moved in, we are still chipping away at the long list of items we have yet to resolve. The workers have had to come back multiple times to fix and re-fix the work that they have done.
Folsom, CA, on Jul 21, 2021
Design options pre selections changed over time and options which were available in MIdel itself ad asked for was not available and later added but after my cut offs.It seems but one sided. Multiple findings on HOUSE to Home walkthrough were not completed before closing. Construction and finishing quality assurance is not upto the professional standards and has to do post closure findings which is not correct and resolutions are not prompt. Solar Optiobs purchased but not functioning optimally from day 1 of activation.

Onsite agent super helpful through process. Build team available and answered all questions. As the first house in a development out design choices were a bit behind the timeline needed to make decisions, so that was rushed, but we knew getting in early came with some caveats
