We liked the ability to customize a lot of features and the look/feel of the home. The final walk-thru process was a little frazzled from our perspective and caused major heartburn. The cabinetry needed some rework. The construction manager [name removed] and the warranty communication from [name removed] gave us a solid feeling we could cure any outstanding issues.

Before actually closing on the home everyone was responsive and would reach out in a timely manner. During the initial walk through before closing there was still construction and scaffolding in the home. My independent inspector was unable to conduct an inspection due to the condition the home was in. On closing day appliances were missing, fridge was damaged and most importantly the home was not cleaned at ALL. There was construction dust every where on counters in the sinks, light fixtures, floors. The basement itself was filthy with caked mud and dust everywhere making it a useless area. A request was made to at least have the basement professionally cleaned, but due to no response I had to complete this task out of my own pocket. It took 6 months for me to receive the [name removed] dishwasher due to it simply not being ordered when the home was being built. It took the same amount of time to receive our mini fridge that was included with the 3rd floor option. While waiting for these appliances I had to reach out for updates instead of getting a simple email with a status. On closing day the sales person in the office had no idea that I was closing and didn't know where the keys to the home were. For the amount of money that I paid for the home I expected a more polished delivery and hand over.

I have disliked the inconsistency of sub contracted people that come out to do warranty service work. There has been so many different people that the work and the outcome has varied. On the other hand, I have liked that the new warranty person [name removed] has been very accommodating and helpful when it comes to work orders and days. He is willing to go the extra mile to help when needed.

The primary challenges and dislikes we have had are related to the sloppy paint job inside and outside the home . The quality of the painting of the doors has also been inconsistent . All other trades have done a wonderful job .

What I loved most was the attentive, professional approach from [name removed]. We could have bought from many other builders in any part of Denver. We didn’t choose Painted Prairie out of need for location. We chose Painted Prairie and Epic because if [name removed]. I talked to many other builders, NONE of them were [name removed]’s caliber. Their homes were attractive and honestly, ones I would have considered. But I didn’t. That’s because of [name removed].

The end rush to finish on a time. The end result is over all a good quality home but there were lots of details that were rushed or done backwards or that need to be redone. Also, I think that the turnover rate of employees while the home was being built compromised the quality of work.

It’s taken so long to just be scheduled. One person says something is included in what should be warranty and others disagree. I feel like no one wants to take responsibility for the issues and it’s a merry go round.

I understand certain covid situations caused extensions - but after closing I had a list of 10-15 things that were supposed to be addressed prior to closing. And now - 5 weeks after closing there are still issues that are being addressed. I somewhat feel like once closing occurred I was just a nuisance.

On the front end, I had a great experience working with [name removed]. She was wonderful to work with throughout the home buying process. Very knowledge and thorough. On the back end, I had a great experience working with Nic and [name removed], and [name removed] with home warranty. I disliked having to close on my home without a complete home, and feel like it has been difficult at times to make sure these projects get completed. I am still waiting on some of these projects to get done and have to check in with the Epic team regularly. I do really enjoy working with Nic, [name removed], and [name removed] and understand that they have a lot on their plates. Throughout the design process, and especially working with AFI and [name removed], I felt like I had to double and triple check their work as their was often a mistake. I was very disappointed when the appliances I ordered were discontinued, but no one from [name removed] told us this until it was time for the appliances to be delivered near closing. We cannot close with appliances and had to cancel our appliances with [name removed] and purchase them on our own. [name removed] at [name removed] was one of the worst people I've ever worked with in customer service.
