Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.

The work is very sloppy and poorly done. I keep finding things that need to be redone. The warranty department is extremely slow and doesn’t get back to you for weeks. It took 3 1/2 weeks to get my Ethernet cords replaced that were not functioning correctly. And again the work on these homes are poorly done I have found paint all over my floors. Caulking is missing around toilets and there is holes in my carpet. No one seems to care and it’s very frustrating. I have told all my family and friends to not buy from legends the quality of work is terrible.

Seeing the step by step building process was enjoyable. However the communications from the onsite sales team was horrible. The miscommunications from [name removed] cost us thousands of dollars. The house features and ground elevation was not communicated. We weren't given a proper 45day closing date. The punch list was not complete by closing date. We had no idea the AC unit was broke until we arrived onsite to get our keys. We could not move in until a week after closing. Costing us more money to reschedule movers and paying for living arrangements. With nothing done by upper management. Definitely a rush job from the builders. Very disappointed and discouraging for a first time builder. The overall process was awful, not sure I would recommend anyone to this development.

The process of buying this home was not seamless. I’m in a HOA community never received anything to welcome me to the community. Since I’ve been here information provided by email not clear at all. I am being delayed for outside home project because I don’t have an account set up with [name removed]. I can’t open an account due to proof of ownership needs to be verified. Some type of email or letter should have been sent out explaining steps to set up an account and steps to get approval for outside projects. During the closing someone from HOA office should have been notified. Warranty issues I am getting the run around because there’s different vendors for warranty issues. I am not spending small dollars for this home and I made to feel like nothing Legend homes has money and don’t care about me at all. This is my first time in a HOA community and as a consumer you all don’t care. You have been paid nothing else matters.

I would say the materials that was use was cheap. I could tell by the angle stops on every fixture. But i am happy with the house.

The overall experience was hazy in the fact I wasnt very much contacted by legend homes about any of the processes that go into the buying experience through and from legend homes. Some things were identified in the coding and inspection process and I feel it would have been just a extra touch of customer appreciation and concern in value to fix and not excuse the thought of what a third party inspector found. My main concern is that I will constantly rely on legend homes to facilitate my issues the next 12 months but I don't necessarily know if the process will be as hazy as the buying was but overall I want to improve things and make the experience and neighborhood better for all and not just become a negative complainer or a nuisance, but a influence that helps break communicational pitfalls or lackadaisical issues or staffing shortage.

Some of the materials used were low grade. The painters and flooring installers left white caulking and paint dots on the floor that required me to get on hands and knees and scrub off. I have had to have 3 items done through warranty after closing.

Everything was great. It was just the stress of gathering all the additional information that was required by the lender

The purchase process was ok, however the house has a design issue in the kitchen and the builder said they would fix it but nothing has happened. Also, I had a water leak in the garage because someone forgot to do plumbing work for the HVAC, so we had to put in a warranty ticket. There are also a few construction mistakes that we discovered when installing shelving units in the house. I was expecting the house to be in perfect condition when I moved in.

Disliked the fact that I was told that things would be completed by the time I moved in but weren’t. Still waiting….

The officers assigned were accomodative and very helpful and were transaprent in thier dealings. wished the homes would have more variety and choice of items desired or needed while remaining in the budget. I would switch some things I deem less important e.g marble top in bathroom for more important features such as opening window in kitchen for air circulation or ventable Microwave.
