Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.

There were several things I did not like. I would have liked better inventory that is in line with Grand’s reputation. Inventory is dated. What are standard with other builders, Grand Homes considered as upgrade. Lacks quality control of trades for Grand’s brand. I had high expectations of Grand and was disappointed during and after the processed.

Sales person changed multiple of times with lack of communication if any. Lender used via grand homes was horrible at communication as well (original person I was dealing with, quit, and I was never informed nor was there any communication regarding my loan after multiple of attempts; had to get the sales manager involved to get any response). Closing was horrible as well, delay in getting the keys even after knowing the closing date/time. Front desk made inappropriate discriminatory remarks at closing that was not appreciated. No one knew where my mail keys were initially, took a few weeks. The whole process was a nightmare. Grand homes quality and status is not what it used to be since 2006 when I made it a goal to purchase one, was a disappointment for sure.

[name removed] has been very responsive, communicative, and a great action taker. [name removed] always kept me in the loop during the construction time. I had a different builder to begin with and [name removed] took over after the other guy quit. Ever since [name removed] took over, he had been very responsive & communicative. After I moved in, I have to say the Grand Homes team performed above expectations on the after sales experience for me. If I don't know what to do, I texted [name removed] and he would get right back to me. He would either personally showed up on my doorstep or told me he had contacted someone who would come help me. He would also checked in after few days to ensure I have been taken care of. Nothing beats that experience!

I loved all the updates I received via email and text every step of the way. I don’t like how the price went down after I signed my contract and I couldn’t get it at the listing price.

I wanted to take a moment to thank [name removed] (our builder) for the incredible work he did in building our dream home. We were truly impressed by his responsiveness and how consistently he went above and beyond to make our vision a reality. His presence on-site, willingness to meet with us, and the weekly update photos he provided made all the difference. As first-time home buyers, we were naturally nervous and had many questions, but he was so kind and patient, guiding us through the entire process. We are incredibly fortunate to have had [name removed] as our builder, and we are thrilled with our new home. [name removed], you truly are the best builder! He made our journey with Grand Homes so amazing that we can’t help but brag about Grand Homes to everyone we know and Of course the House brags for itself!

Design center visit should provide complete information on items selection and transparent on providing options and also add map layout discussion which cause a lot misinformation on sliding door size and impact on space , as incomplete and unexplained information makes major impact on floor design and actual delivery

I liked working with [name removed]. She helped us throughout out the process (start to finish). Employees like [name removed] makes Grand Home look good. I didn’t like your PSA system. It is not user friendly & very hard to follow when you add or delete items. Also the options at the Design center is very limited any what I expected from Grand homes (I.e. for flooring LVP was not available as an option)

It’s been a really smooth and pleasant experience for on the very beginning till the end. [name removed], our general contractor, has been polite, responsive, and takes strong ownership in the building of the home and listening to what we want. I am extremely happy of how everything turn out and really appreciate [name removed] being in this process with us in turning our dream come true. I would definitely recommend grand home to my friends and family.

I like the designs and the layout. Couple of the things 1.Design sessions should be longer as 90% of the people are new home owners and need to know what you are talking. 2.When an owner is ready to pay more for additional changes which doesn't impact the structural changes, let them do it. lot of things can come up after we see other things. Have certain dollar value of changes allowed. 3.one word on [name removed], excellent guy and was very helpful. Give him ability to evaluate things and see if there are some minor adjustments made after the fact to do, 4.[name removed] is good and helpful. 5.Home warranty team is good and they are doing their best to keep the customer happy. but GRAND HOMES need to improve their quality. Honest answer is don't feel Grand Homes did things Grandly. Need to improve in everything. Last but not least my sales [name removed], was there all the way through my journey. Management's out look must change to help customer's more than what u do.

Everything is great specially with respect to communication from our Builder [name removed] on a time to time basis. However, we wish few were told upfront during design. For example: We were never told during design that we need to pay for outlet that support large appliance like refrigerators. We would have happily paid the money at the design. Many times we discussed about having fridge in Garage but never once we were told that outlet provided in garage doesn't support it. This has nothing to do with quality of construction, however it is important to get to these details with homeowners during design appointments.
