Homebuilder Customer Reviews

No one knows more about a homebuilder's quality and service than the builder's customers.

Since 1984, Eliant has been independently evaluating the performance of homebuilders across the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East:

  • We ask recent homebuyers to evaluate their builder's purchase process.
  • Then, we ask homeowners to evaluate their builder's quality and service (1) after the first 5-months in the home, and (2) again at the end of the first year.

In "Homebuilder Customer Reviews", we present the ratings and comments collected from new-home buyers at these three points in time.

Eliant verifies that only evaluations completed by actual customers are included in this "Homebuilder Customer Reviews" site. No other evaluations - whether collected by the builder or those appearing on other public sites - are included here. All customer comments are included verbatim, no editing is permitted.

The experience from contract to move-in was smooth and positive. Everything went well.

Overall, I appreciated the professionalism of the Trophy Homes team throughout the process. The build quality and attention to detail were excellent. One area that was challenging was the communication with [name removed], particularly regarding the upfront down payment. The amount changed drastically within a week of closing, which caused confusion and added stress. Clearer, more consistent communication around financial details would have made the process smoother.

Overall [name removed] and [name removed] and [name removed] have been great to worth with. The home is all in all great! We have had some minor issues that have been resolved quickly. My biggest negatives have been the yard is a little lumpy and soft in some places. Also the Matte paint is impossible to clean and I wish I would have known it needed to be painted before to keep it easy to clean.

[name removed] responded to our concerns quickly and professionally. He came to our home, inspected the issues, and addressed them right away. [name removed] also took the time to show us the proper way to maintain our air conditioner, including how to replace the filter and helpful tips to keep it running smoothly. He pointed out the correct circuit breaker switches for the floodlight and doorbell, which was very helpful. During the closing walkthrough, [name removed] patiently explained everything — from changing the air filter and preventing bathroom mold, to adjusting the weather strip on the back door. He also advised us to keep the air conditioning running to help prevent mold and other issues. [name removed] clearly explained how to operate the sprinkler system as well. Most importantly, he was very approachable, friendly, and knowledgeable — it felt like we’d known him for a long time.

The friendly service, attention to detail by the sales rep but especially I LOVED that the builder was able to provide a significant number of dollare for me to cover my closing costs. This home purchase exceeded every expectation.

Overall, I am grateful that the home has a good finish and is aesthetically pleasing. However, the process leading up to and following my move-in has raised several concerns, and the ongoing disruptions have made this milestone more stressful than it should have been. Sales & Closing Experience: From the beginning, I was transparent about a planned work trip, yet I felt pressured to close on 8/25/25. At the end of closing, the account wasn’t even funded, which meant I could not pick up my keys until Saturday, 8/30. Losing that week of practical in-home inspection time created a ripple effect that I am still dealing with. Additionally, [name removed] was responsive and diligent until I paid the deposit. Since then, I’ve realized this may have been a typical sales-agent persona. Even a simple acknowledgement of my emails would have shown excellent customer service and gone a long way. Workmanship & Scheduling: Although [name removed] is diligently working with his contractors, many of these issues should have been addressed prior to closing. Instead, they continue to delay my ability to truly settle in: Doorbell: This was mentioned during home orientation but was not fixed until after I moved in. The process required an electrician, drywall, and painting work, and took nearly a week to coordinate. Kitchen Cabinets: Cabinets 10–13 (right of the microwave) remain unresolved. The replacement attempt has been highly disruptive. I was not warned that spraying would fill the house with fumes, forcing my mother and I to step outside for an extended period. The newly installed cabinets do not match the existing ones, and I am still waiting on the contractor supervisor to inspect. Shelves & Closet Rods: None were sanded properly before closing. When the painter came back to sand the rods, no drop cloth was used, leaving dust and debris across closets, washer, and dryer. This same lack of care happened with the drywall vendor and the bathroom countertop vendor during their visits. Fortunately, my clothes and bathroom items were not yet unpacked, or the stress would have been far worse. Impact... Because most contract workers speak little English, I have had to constantly translate via Google, which disrupts my work schedule. On top of that, the combination of being rushed into closing without proper due diligence, losing my “practical” in-home inspection time, and dealing with careless workmanship has already cost me more in moving expenses (since I could not cancel scheduled deliveries). Summary... The overall look of the home is good, but the execution and coordination of fixes; particularly with all shelves/flat surfaces, kitchen cabinets, closet rods, and doorbell, reflect missed opportunities for quality and customer care. These could have been prevented with proper oversight before closing.

As a first time buyer he made the experience comfortable and kept in touch after to ensure we had no ongoing issues. We love our place and this particular model is perfect for us.

Having to wait and live in a hotel for 2 months in between selling our house and taking possession of this one (of course that's not the responsibility of anyone involved at Trophy).
