The person we worked with during signing was clearly knowledgeable about the paperwork. She walked us through all the documents and gave a brief explanation of each document so we knew what we were signing. Our first time home buying experience was great because of First American Title!

Miscommunication and lack of communication Between lender, title company and delayed communication to buyer. Waisted lots of my time, which could have been avoided had title and lender communicated.

My realtor was extremely pleased with the way that everything was set up. She said "I wish you guys could come to Houston and show them how to work." I think I may have been there 45 min. My mom's closing was like 2 hours plus being delayed 3x. This was a very good experience for me being a first time buyer.

The only problem I had, was when preparing for underwriting, I had to continually reach out to them. Just about every time I did, I needed another document. Wes was great with replying and communication.

Getting the final paperwork to get the water turned on was exstremely difficult to get. Locked out of log in for the online portal, requeseted reset never received. Online is nice when it works, hard copy or flash drive is the best way to do this. Walked away with not information at the closing told to go to the portal that was not working. Very frustrated, trying to get the water set up on the new purchase of a Bloomfield. Also crazy that I have to travel 45 minutes for closing when you have other offices new where I lived and was moving to.

I was bombarded w/emails to sign up with First American Title in the beginning of the process but I was 350 miles away from my home/computer and could not sign up immediately. When I arrived back home, I tried to sign up with First American title but my time expired. I called First American and was told it was fixed but it was not and I still could not sign up. I never did sign up at any time during the process. I have never had to do that before and this took place about a year prior to my actual closing. I initiated all of the calls to First American during the process because I wanted to know the status. I was never told unless I asked. Of my 14 closings over my lifetime, this was the very WORSE. On the day prior to the closing, I did not know if I was going to close the following day or not. Off again, on again. I was told there were two appointments available, 10 am and 3 pm. I opted for the 10 am but it was never confirmed with me. I had a two-hour drive to First American and that morning of the appointment, I still was not called. If I did not leave by 8 am, I would be late. I called and left a message and emailed trying to confirm the time. Crickets all morning. I still did not know if I was closing. In the afternoon, I called (notice I had to initiate the call as always) First American to find out the status. I was told that my loan processor notified First American title 30 minutes prior to this phone call to First American title but no one bothered notifying me that the docs were ready for a 3 pm closing. This only delayed my arrival by 30 minutes. That was at 1:45 pm. I still had a two-hour drive and had to go to the bank to get the cashier’s check. My plan was to get the check earlier so that when I received the call to go to the appointment, I would not have to stop at the bank. I was not told the amount of the check; I had to ask. I was on my own to figure everything out. Once at the teller’s window at the bank, I did not know who to make it payable to so I had to call First American again. I arrived to the signing at almost 4 pm. My Realtor was not allowed in the same room with me and of course, I had questions for her. My Realtor thought that was very bizarre. She never had that happen in her 17 years as a Realtor. The notary was like a Gestapo, towered over me, barking orders, unfriendly, just wanted signatures and go on when I wanted to at least glance at the what paragraph read. Then at the end of the signing, she told me not to quit my job. What?! I was dumbfounded. Who gave her the authority to tell me what to do and not do? Very unprofessional and out of place. What gave her the idea that I would "quit my job" (I started my own company three years ago)? What I do is NONE of HER business. In addition, if I did quit, that is none of her business. I have enough money in the bank to make these payments for the next 30 years without having a job. I was so disgusted and frustrated with the entire process, I told my Realtor that I was one inch away to telling everyone to keep their loan and I'll pay cash for the house. This is the worse process that I have ever experienced and mark my words, if I ever buy another home, I can assure you that I would NEVER use First American Title. If I could give them a zero rating I would. I rate them overall as “1”, completely dissatisfied.

We loves our experience with First American! As soon as we left the building and were walking ro the parkinglot we got the call that the paperwork was final and we can get keys to out new home! Fast and everything went smooth and organized. Definitely recommend them!
