Building homes since 1927 The Jones Company story began in 1927 with the founder of The Jones Company, John E. Jones. In 1961 John’s son, Bob, purchased The Jones Company from his father. Bob Jones and his partner, Howard Chilcutt, led The Jones Company to much success, growing the company and building homes for over 15,000 families.

In 2003 Centex purchased The Jones Company’s St. Louis division from Bob and Howard. Then, in 2005 Howard founded Consort Homes in St. Louis. Ken Stricker, who was former President of The Jones Company in St. Louis, now serves as President of Consort Homes in St. Louis, and The Jones Company of Tennessee in Nashville, today. Today, The Jones Company of Tennessee is still owned by the Chilcutt and Jones families.

Hi there. I am not sure what you are looking for specifically. We will circle back and find out if you need anything. We typically allow 90 days for you to live in your new home so that you can then submit a 90 day list of any items that pop up that need to be dealt with.

Liked ability to make changes to our floorplan. Wish they had offered more guidance when we made those changes, so that our modifications would have turned out more optimally. Also didn't like that since we were limited to 10 changes, each time we asked a question about a change, that counted against our 10, even if we didn't actually implement the change in the design. Didn't like that [name removed] made their own changes to our plan without giving any notification or communicating the changes, and then disputed that there was any problem with the change they made. But we were strictly prohibited from requesting any changes of our own.

Hello and thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you were dissatisfied with the process. We are a production builder (as you knew) but as you said, we do offer flexibility that other production builders do not offer. We're sorry that you were not happy with our limit on the number of changes that could be made, however, as a production builder, that is how we keep our costs low and our build times predictable. We are unsure who you believe made changes without your knowledge because we require that our buyers sign off on all changes. In the end, we hope that you love your home in spite of expectations that you don't feel were met.

[name removed] and [name removed] were both a total pleasure. Our only regret is that more plan information wasn't shared with us up front, specifically electrical, because that has been a frustration since we moved it to find gaps in our understanding of what was really being provided.

[name removed] home we purchase from the [name removed] Company was built and delivered as promised. Our home was built on time and came out as we had expected. However, there are a few areas that we were not too pleased about. They are as follows: 1. [name removed] closing (Escrow Company/[name removed] Law Group) experience was the worst we ever had with any real estate purchasing. We currently own many properties and for the past 39 years, we had numerous property transactions. We even had a couple of real estate transactions recently in the Nashville area. By far, the [name removed] Escrow Company was the worst escrow company that we ever dealt with. As we came closer to the closing date, we never heard from them about any directions, guidance, and only received one email from this escrow company. Instead of the escrow company reaching out to us for coordination and providing more information, we had to keep calling numerous times to get any answers about how much we need to bring on the closing date. Obviously, this escrow company is very unprofessional, lack of customer care, and does not care about making the closing go smoothly and seamlessly. Furthermore, on the day of the closing, they just handed us the [name removed] Company's Welcome Package without any clear explanations and wanted to finish up quickly. Obviously, they don't care anything about their clients or providing proper closing service. I spoke with several of my neighbors and they all had similar negative experience with this escrow company. After waiting many months and looking forward to moving into our new home, this escrow company left a very negative ending to a great and happy process. 2. Options to our home were very limited. Even we paid more, we would have loved to have more upgrade selections such as lighting fixtures, different front door, bathroom vanity colors, etc. We also wished that we had the option to completely finish the interior of the garage and the storage attic on the second floor. 3. Lack of simple modifications. While planning our home, we asked if we could change our recess lightings to brighter white light bulbs instead of the yellow ones, which we were told that was not possible. After the planning, we also could not add extra recess lights and switches in the house. 4. Minor repairs and corrections to the house after the closing. We wished that the after care service was a little quicker and better. After we moved in, like any home, we saw some areas that need minor repairs and corrections. They are still pending and we are still waiting for these items to be corrected. We liked that the house was built quickly but properly following all the building and safety codes. We were able to make many design decisions and the architect team was able to make a different modification to our 5th and 6th bedroom configuration. We like that we were able to add more exterior faucets and outlets around the house. Also, our project manager [name removed] was great. He was very knowledgeable, professional, kind, caring, and really tried to accommodate what we wanted in our home. He really left us with a very positive experience with the [name removed] Company. Overall, we are very happy and satisfied with the purchase of our new home from the [name removed] Company.

It felt like us vs. [name removed] throughout the process. I felt like I had to constantly fight battles and everything was met with an instant "no" until I dropped some issues and kept pushing on things that really mattered to us. Throughout the process, I didn't feel like a valued client. Having never built a home before, I didn't feel like we were thoroughly walked through all of the options and what was included in those options (i.e. if we were interested in a basement, but thought the price was way too high, we didn't realize it would be a full finished basement with bedrooms and a bathroom, etc.) We loved being able to pick out our finishes, but it was difficult to have everything picked out before even breaking ground.

Liked that we could contact some of the contractors directly with some of our issues. Most have been quick to respond & resolve problems. We are still waiting on several other items (mainly from our 90 day warranty period) to be resolved & haven't had any contact from the warranty dept to let us know when they will be taken care of. We've tried to be patient, because we know the pandemic has put them behind on getting to everyone, but it would be nice to get an update or at least know we haven't been forgotten. We have also repeatedly asked some questions about the neighborhood & havent received any response.

Most work was done very promptly. We were pleased with how quickly things were addressed with the exception of our back yard. We are waiting to get response about our yard situation. When the house behind us was built, it tore up the hillside of our back yard, there are rocks left, water flows down when it rains, boulders (so big that we couldn't move them ourselves) were left that killed our grass, etc. We just need to have the hill fixed and something done with our grass.

Everyone was very professional. Even though we were not able to be here for the majority of the time while our house was being built, we had great communication from [name removed] and all questions as answered. Once here In early July is when we were able to see the quality builder we chose. [name removed] and his team have been very helpful.
